¹⁵ Hee that walketh in iustice, and speaketh righteous things, refusing gaine of oppression, shaking his handes from taking of gifts, stopping his eares from hearing of blood, and shutting his eyes from seeing euill.

⁶ Thou shalt not ouerthrowe the right of thy poore in his sute. ⁷ Thou shalt keepe thee farre from a false matter, and shalt not slaye the innocent and the righteous: for I will not iustifie a wicked man. ⁸ Thou shalt take no gift: for the gift blindeth the wise, and peruerteth the wordes of the righteous. ⁹ Thou shalt not oppresse a stranger: for ye knowe the heart of a stranger, seeing yee were strangers in the land of Egypt.

¹⁵ Then Moses waxed verie angry, and saide vnto the Lord, Looke not vnto their offring: I haue not taken so much as an asse from them, neither haue I hurt any of them.

¹⁹ Wrest not thou ye Law, nor respect any person, neither take rewarde: for the reward blindeth ye eyes of the wise, and peruerteth ye worde of ye iust.

³ Beholde, here I am: beare recorde of me before the Lord and before his Anointed. Whose oxe haue I taken? or whose asse haue I taken? or whome haue I done wrong to? or whome haue I hurt? or of whose hande haue I receiued any bribe, to blinde mine eyes therewith, and I will restore it you?

⁴ And hee came to the sheepecoates by the way where there was a caue, and Saul went in to do his easement: and Dauid and his men sate in the inward parts of the caue. ⁵ And the men of Dauid said vnto him, See, the day is come, whereof the Lord sayde vnto thee, Beholde, I will deliuer thine enemie into thine hande, and thou shalt doe to him as it shall seeme good to thee. Then Dauid arose and cut off the lap of Sauls garment priuily. ⁶ And afterward Dauid was touched in his heart, because he had cut off the lappe which was on Sauls garment. ⁷ And he said vnto his men, The Lord keepe mee from doing that thing vnto my master the Lords Anoynted, to lay mine hand vpon him: for he is the Anoynted of the Lord.

⁸ Then saide Abishai to Dauid, God hath closed thine enemie into thine hande this day: now therefore, I pray thee, let me smite him once with a speare to the earth, and I will not smite him againe. ⁹ And Dauid sayde to Abishai, Destroy him not: for who can lay his hand on the Lordes anoynted, and be giltlesse? ¹⁰ Moreouer Dauid said, As the Lord liueth, eyther the Lord shall smite him, or his day shall come to dye, or he shall descend into battel, and perish. ¹¹ The Lord keepe mee from laying mine hand vpon the Lordes anointed: but, I pray thee, take now the speare that is at his head, and the pot of water, and let vs goe hence.

⁷ And I thought in my minde, and I rebuked the princes, and the rulers, and saide vnto them, You lay burthens euery one vpon his brethren: and I set a great assemblie against them, ⁸ And I said vnto them, We (according to our abilitie) haue redeemed our brethren the Iewes, which were solde vnto the heathen: and will you sell your brethren againe, or shall they be solde vnto vs? Then helde they their peace, and could not answere. ⁹ I said also, That which ye do, is not good. Ought ye not to walke in the feare of our God, for the reproche of the heathen our enemies? ¹⁰ For euen I, my brethren, and my seruants doe lende them money and corne: I pray you, let vs leaue off this burden. ¹¹ Restore, I pray you, vnto them this day their landes, their vineyardes, their oliues, and their houses, and remit the hundreth part of the siluer and of the corne, of the wine, and of the oyle that ye exact of them. ¹² Then said they, We will restore it, and will not require it of them: we will doe as thou hast said. Then I called the Priestes, and caused them to sweare, that they shoulde doe according to this promise. ¹³ So I shooke my lappe, and said, So let God shake out euery man that wil not perfourme this promise from his house, and from his labour: euen thus let him be shaken out, and emptied. And all the Cogregation said, Amen, and praised the Lord: and the people did according to this promise.

¹³ If I did contemne the iudgement of my seruant, and of my mayde, when they did contend with me, ¹⁴ What then shall I do when God standeth vp? and when he shall visit me, what shall I answere? ¹⁵ He that hath made me in the wombe, hath he not made him? hath not he alone facioned vs in the wombe? ¹⁶ If I restrained the poore of their desire, or haue caused the eyes of the widow to faile, ¹⁷ Or haue eaten my morsels alone, and the fatherles hath not eaten thereof, ¹⁸ (For from my youth hee hath growen vp with me as with a father, and from my mothers wombe I haue bene a guide vnto her) ¹⁹ If I haue seene any perish for want of clothing, or any poore without couering, ²⁰ If his loynes haue not blessed me, because he was warmed with the fleece of my sheepe, ²¹ If I haue lift vp mine hande against the fatherlesse, when I saw that I might helpe him in the gate, ²² Let mine arme fal from my shoulder, and mine arme be broken from the bone. ²³ For Gods punishment was fearefull vnto me, and I could not be deliuered from his highnes. ²⁴ If I made gold mine hope, or haue sayd to the wedge of golde, Thou art my confidence, ²⁵ If I reioyced because my substance was great, or because mine hand had gotten much,

²⁹ If I reioyced at his destruction that hated me, or was mooued to ioye when euill came vpon him, ³⁰ Neither haue I suffred my mouth to sinne, by wishing a curse vnto his soule. ³¹ Did not the men of my Tabernacle say, Who shall giue vs of his flesh? we can not bee satisfied.

¹ Blessed is the man that doeth not walke in the counsell of the wicked, nor stand in the way of sinners, nor sit in ye seate of the scornefull: ² But his delite is in the Lawe of the Lord, and in his Lawe doeth he meditate day and night. ³ For he shall be like a tree planted by the riuers of waters, that will bring foorth her fruite in due season: whose leafe shall not fade: so whatsoeuer he shall doe, shall prosper.

¹ A Psalme of Dauid. Lord, who shall dwell in thy Tabernacle? who shall rest in thine holy Mountaine? ² He that walketh vprightly and worketh righteousnes, and speaketh the trueth in his heart.

⁴ Euen he that hath innocent handes, and a pure heart: which hath not lift vp his minde vnto vanitie, nor sworne deceitfully. ⁵ He shall receiue a blessing from the Lord, and righteousnesse from the God of his saluation.

¹ A Psalme of David. Judge me, O Lord, for I haue walked in mine innocency: my trust hath bene also in the Lord: therefore shall I not slide. ² Proue me, O Lord, and trie mee: examine my reines, and mine heart.

⁴ I haue not hanted with vaine persons, neither kept companie with the dissemblers. ⁵ I haue hated the assemblie of the euill, and haue not companied with the wicked. ⁶ I will wash mine handes in innocencie, O Lord, and compasse thine altar,

⁹ Gather not my soule with the sinners, nor my life with the bloodie men: ¹⁰ In whose handes is wickednes, and their right hand is full of bribes. ¹¹ But I will walke in mine innocencie: redeeme me therefore, and be mercifull vnto me.

³ Blessed are they that keepe iudgement, and doe righteousnesse at all times.

³⁷ Turne away mine eies from regarding vanitie, and quicken me in thy way.

¹ Thus saith the Lord, Keepe iudgement and doe iustice: for my saluation is at hand to come, and my righteousnes to be reueiled. ² Blessed is the man that doeth this, and the sonne of man which layeth holde on it: hee that keepeth the Sabbath and polluteth it not, and keepeth his hand from doing any euill.

⁸ Then shall thy light breake foorth as the morning, and thine health shall grow speedily: thy righteousnes shall goe before thee, and the glorie of the Lord shall embrace thee.

²⁶ For among my people are founde wicked persons, that lay waite as hee that setteth snares: they haue made a pit, to catch men. ²⁷ As a cage is full of birdes, so are their houses full of deceite: thereby they are become great and waxen riche. ²⁸ They are waxen fat and shining: they doe ouerpasse the deedes of the wicked: they execute no iudgement, no not the iudgement of the fatherlesse: yet they prosper, though they execute no iudgement for the poore.

¹⁵ Then Iohanan the sonne of Kareah spake to Gedaliah in Mizpah secretly, saying, Let me goe, I pray thee, and I will slay Ishmael the sonne of Nethaniah, and no man shall know it. Wherefore should he kill thee, that all the Iewes, which are gathered vnto thee, shoulde be scattered, and the remnant in Iudah perish? ¹⁶ But Gedaliah the sonne of Ahikam said vnto Iohanan the sonne of Kareah, Thou shalt not doe this thing: for thou speakest falsely of Ishmael.

¹⁵ That hath not eaten vpon the mountaines, neither hath lift vp his eyes to the idols of ye house of Israel, nor hath defiled his neighbours wife, ¹⁶ Neither hath oppressed any, nor hath withholden the pledge, neither hath spoyled by violence, but hath giuen his bread to the hungry, and hath couered the naked with a garment, ¹⁷ Neither hath withdrawen his hand from the afflicted, nor receiued vsurie nor increase, but hath executed my iudgements, and hath walked in my statutes, he shall not die in the iniquitie of his father, but he shall surely liue.

³ To make good for the euil of their hands, the prince asked, and the iudge iudgeth for a reward: therefore the great man he speaketh out the corruption of his soule: so they wrapt it vp. ⁴ The best of them is as a brier, and the most righteous of them is sharper then a thorne hedge: the day of thy watchmen and thy visitation commeth: then shalbe their confusion.

⁶ The lawe of trueth was in his mouth, and there was no iniquitie founde in his lippes: hee walked with me in peace and equitie, and did turne many away from iniquitie.

¹⁵ And said, What will ye giue me, and I will deliuer him vnto you? and they appoynted vnto him thirtie pieces of siluer.

⁶ Both were iust before God, and walked in all the commandements and ordinances of the Lord, without reproofe.

¹² Then came there Publicanes also to bee baptized, and saide vnto him, Master, what shall we doe? ¹³ And hee saide vnto them, Require no more then that which is appointed vnto you. ¹⁴ The souldiers likewise demaunded of him, saying, And what shall we doe? And he saide vnto them, Doe violence to no man, neither accuse any falsely, and be content with your wages.

⁸ And Zaccheus stood forth, and said vnto the Lord, Beholde, Lord, the halfe of my goods I giue to the poore: and if I haue taken from any man by forged cauillation, I restore him foure folde.

¹⁸ And when Simon sawe, that through laying on of the Apostles hands the holy Ghost was giuen, he offred them money, ¹⁹ Saying, Giue mee also this power, that on whomsoeuer I lay the handes, he may receiue the holy Ghost. ²⁰ Then saide Peter vnto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou thinkest that the gift of God may be obteined with money. ²¹ Thou hast neither part nor fellowship in this businesse: for thine heart is not right in the sight of God. ²² Repent therefore of this thy wickednes, and pray God, that if it be possible, the thought of thine heart may be forgiuen thee. ²³ For I see that thou art in the gall of bitternes, and in the bonde of iniquitie.

⁷ That is, to them which through patience in well doing, seeke glorie, and honour, and immortalitie, euerlasting life:

¹¹ And haue no fellowship with ye vnfruitfull works of darknes, but euen reproue them rather. ¹² For it is shame euen to speake of the things which are done of them in secret. ¹³ But all thinges when they are reproued of the light, are manifest: for it is light that maketh all things manifest.

¹¹ For that grace of God, that bringeth saluation vnto all men, hath appeared, ¹² And teacheth vs that we should denie vngodlinesse and worldly lusts, and that we should liue soberly and righteously, and godly in this present world,

⁴ Behold, the hire of ye labourers, which haue reaped your fieldes (which is of you kept backe by fraude) cryeth, and the cryes of them which haue reaped, are entred into the eares of the Lord of hostes.

¹⁴ Hauing eyes full of adulterie, and that can not cease to sinne, beguiling vnstable soules: they haue heartes exercised with couetousnesse, they are the children of curse: ¹⁵ Which forsaking the right way, haue gone astray, folowing the way of Balaam, the sonne of Bosor, which loued the wages of vnrighteousnes. ¹⁶ But he was rebuked for his iniquitie: for the dumme beast speaking with mans voyce, forbade the foolishnesse of the Prophet.

⁷ Litle children, let no man deceiue you: he that doeth righteousnes, is righteous, as hee is righteous.
