²² Cease you from the man whose breath is in his nostrels: for wherein is he to be esteemed?

⁷ The Lord God also made the man of the dust of the grounde, and breathed in his face breath of life, and the man was a liuing soule.

²² Euery thing in whose nostrels the spirit of life did breathe, whatsoeuer they were in the drie land, they died.

¹⁵ Therefore my soule chuseth rather to be strangled and to die, then to be in my bones. ¹⁶ I abhorre it, I shall not liue alway: spare me then, for my dayes are but vanitie. ¹⁷ What is man, that thou doest magnifie him, and that thou settest thine heart vpon him? ¹⁸ And doest visite him euery morning, and tryest him euery moment? ¹⁹ Howe long will it be yer thou depart from me? thou wilt not let me alone whiles I may swallowe my spettle. ²⁰ I haue sinned, what shall I do vnto thee? O thou preseruer of me, why hast thou set me as a marke against thee, so that I am a burden vnto my selfe? ²¹ And why doest thou not pardon my trespasse? and take away mine iniquitie? for nowe shall I sleepe in the dust, and if thou seekest me in the morning, I shall not be found.

³ Yet so long as my breath is in me, and the Spirit of God in my nostrels,

⁴ What is man, say I, that thou art mindefull of him? and the sonne of man, that thou visitest him?

⁹ Yet the children of men are vanitie, the chiefe men are lies: to lay them vpon a balance they are altogether lighter then vanitie.

³ Lord, what is man that thou regardest him! or the sonne of man that thou thinkest vpon him! ⁴ Man is like to vanitie: his dayes are like a shadow, that vanisheth.

³ Put not your trust in princes, nor in the sonne of man, for there is none helpe in him.

¹⁵ Beholde, the nations are as a drop of a bucket, and are counted as the dust of the balance: beholde, he taketh away the yles as a litle dust.

⁵ Thus saith the Lord, Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arme, and withdraweth his heart from the Lord.

¹⁴ (And yet ye cannot tell what shalbe to morowe. For what is your life? It is euen a vapour that appeareth for a litle time, and afterward vanisheth away)
