¹⁴ But God forbid that I should reioyce, but in ye crosse of our Lord Iesus Christ, whereby the world is crucified vnto me, and I vnto ye world.

⁹ Then Iehoash the King of Israel sent to Amaziah King of Iudah, saying, The thistle that is in Lebanon, sent to the cedar that is in Lebanon, saying, Giue thy daughter to my sonne to wife: and the wilde beast that was in Lebanon, went and trode downe the thistle. ¹⁰ Because thou hast smitten Edom, thine heart hath made thee proud: bragge of glory, and tary at home. why doest thou prouoke to thine hurt, that thou shouldest fall, and Iudah with thee? ¹¹ But Amaziah would not heare: therefore Iehoash King of Israel went vp: and he and Amaziah King of Iudah sawe one another in the face at Beth-shemesh which is in Iudah.

²⁴ If I made gold mine hope, or haue sayd to the wedge of golde, Thou art my confidence, ²⁵ If I reioyced because my substance was great, or because mine hand had gotten much,

⁶ They trust in their goods, and boast them selues in the multitude of their riches.

¹ To him that excelleth. A Psalme of Dauid to giue instruction. When Doeg the Edomite came and shewed Saul, and saide to him, Dauid is come to the house of Abimelech. Why boastest thou thy selfe in thy wickednesse, O man of power? the louing kindenesse of God indureth dayly.

²⁴ Surely he shall say, In the Lord haue I righteousnesse and strength: he shall come vnto him, and all that prouoke him, shall be ashamed. ²⁵ The whole seede of Israel shall be iustified, and glorie in the Lord.

²³ Thus saith the Lord, Let not the wise man glory in his wisedome, nor the strong man glorie in his strength, neyther the riche man glorie in his riches. ²⁴ But let him that glorieth, glorie in this, that he vnderstandeth, and knoweth me: for I am the Lord, which shewe mercie, iudgement, and righteousnes in the earth: for in these things I delite, sayth the Lord.

² Sonne of man, say vnto the prince of Tyrus, Thus saieth the Lord God, Because thine heart is exalted, and thou hast said, I am a God, I sit in the seat of God in ye mids of the sea, yet thou art but a man and not God, and though thou didest thinke in thine heart, that thou wast equall with God,

³⁰ The very same houre was this thing fulfilled vpon Nebuchad-nezzar, and hee was driuen from men, and did eate grasse as the oxen, and his body was wet with the dewe of heauen, till his heares were growen as eagles feathers, and his nailes like birds clawes. ³¹ And at the ende of these dayes I Nebuchad-nezzar lift vp mine eyes vnto heauen, and mine vnderstanding was restored vnto me, and I gaue thankes vnto the most High, and I praysed and honoured him that liueth for euer, whose power is an euerlasting power, and his kingdome is from generation to generation.

²⁰ But when his heart was puft vp, and his minde hardened in pride, hee was deposed from his kingly throne, and they tooke his honour from him. ²¹ And hee was driuen from the sonnes of men, and his heart was made like the beastes, and his dwelling was with the wilde asses: they fed him with grasse like oxen, and his body was wet with the dewe of the heauen, till he knewe, that the most high God bare rule ouer the kingdome of men, and that he appointeth ouer it, whomsoeuer he pleaseth.

²³ Saue that ye holy Ghost witnesseth in euery citie, saying, that bondes and afflictions abide me. ²⁴ But I passe not at all, neither is my life deare vnto my selfe, so that I may fulfill my course with ioye, and the ministration which I haue receiued of the Lord Iesus, to testifie the Gospell of the grace of God.

¹⁶ For I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God vnto saluation to euery one that beleeueth, to the Iewe first, and also to the Grecian.

⁴ God forbid: yea, let God be true, and euery man a lyar, as it is written, That thou mightest be iustified in thy words, and ouercome, when thou art iudged. ⁵ Now if our vnrighteousnes comend the righteousnes of God, what shall we say? Is God vnrighteous which punisheth? (I speake as a man.) ⁶ God forbid: els how shall God iudge ye world?

² Howe shall we, that are dead to sinne, liue yet therein?

⁶ Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sinne might be destroied, that henceforth we should not serue sinne.

²³ But wee preach Christ crucified: vnto the Iewes, euen a stumbling blocke, and vnto the Grecians, foolishnesse:

²⁹ That no flesh shoulde reioyce in his presence. ³⁰ But ye are of him in Christ Iesus, who of God is made vnto vs wisedome and righteousnesse, and sanctification, and redemption, ³¹ That, according as it is written, Hee that reioyceth, let him reioyce in the Lord.

² For I esteemed not to knowe any thing among you, saue Iesus Christ, and him crucified.

²¹ Therefore let no man reioyce in men: for all things are yours.

⁵⁸ Therefore my beloued brethren, be ye stedfast, vnmoueable, aboundant alwayes in the worke of the Lord, forasmuch as ye knowe that your labour is not in vaine in the Lord.

¹⁴ For that loue of Christ constraineth vs, ¹⁵ Because we thus iudge, that if one be dead for all, then were all dead, and he died for all, that they which liue, shoulde not henceforth liue vnto themselues, but vnto him which died for them, and rose againe. ¹⁶ Wherefore, henceforth know we no man after the flesh, yea though wee had knowen Christ after the flesh, yet nowe henceforth know we him no more.

¹² But what I doe, that will I doe: that I may cut away occasion from them which desire occasion, that they might be found like vnto vs in that wherein they reioyce.

¹⁰ Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproches, in necessities, in persecutions, in anguish for Christes sake: for when I am weake, then am I strong. ¹¹ I was a foole to boast my selfe: yee haue compelled mee: for I ought to haue bene commended of you: for in nothing was I inferiour vnto the very chiefe Apostles, though I bee nothing.

⁴ Which gaue himself for our sinnes, that he might deliuer vs from this present euill world according to the will of God euen our Father,

²⁰ I am crucified with Christ, but I liue, yet not I any more, but Christ liueth in me: and in that that I now liue in the flesh, I liue by the faith in the Sonne of God, who hath loued me, and giuen him selfe for me.

²⁴ For they that are Christes, haue crucified the flesh with the affections and the lustes.

²⁰ As I feruently looke for, and hope, that in nothing I shalbe ashamed, but that with all confidence, as alwayes, so nowe Christ shalbe magnified in my body, whether it be by life or by death. ²¹ For Christ is to me both in life, and in death aduantage.

³ For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirite, and reioyce in Christ Iesus, and haue no confidence in the flesh:

⁷ But the thinges that were vantage vnto me, the same I counted losse for Christes sake. ⁸ Yea, doubtlesse I thinke all thinges but losse for the excellent knowledge sake of Christ Iesus my Lord, for whome I haue counted all things losse, and doe iudge them to bee dongue, that I might winne Christ, ⁹ And might bee founde in him, that is, not hauing mine owne righteousnesse, which is of the Lawe, but that which is through the faith of Christ, euen the righteousnesse which is of God through faith, ¹⁰ That I may know him, and the vertue of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his afflictions, and be made conformable vnto his death, ¹¹ If by any meanes I might attaine vnto the resurrection of the dead:

¹ If yee then bee risen with Christ, seeke those thinges which are aboue, where Christ sitteth at the right hand of God. ² Set your affections on things which are aboue, and not on things which are on the earth. ³ For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.

¹⁵ Loue not this world, neither the things that are in this world. If any man loue this world, the loue of the Father is not in him. ¹⁶ For all that is in this world (as the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life) is not of the Father, but is of this world. ¹⁷ And this world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that fulfilleth the will of God, abideth euer.

⁴ For all that is borne of God, ouercommeth this world: and this is that victorie that hath ouercome this world, euen our faith. ⁵ Who is it that ouercommeth this world, but he which beleeueth that Iesus is that Sonne of God?
