⁴ It is better that thou shouldest not vowe, then that thou shouldest vow and not pay it.

²⁰ Then Iaakob vowed a vowe, saying, If God will be with me, and will keepe me in this iourney which I go, and wil giue me bread to eate, and clothes to put on:

¹ Then God sayde to Iaakob, Arise, goe vp to Beth-el and dwell there, and make there an altar vnto God, that appeared vnto thee, when thou fleddest from Esau thy brother.

³ For we will rise and goe vp to Beth-el, and I will make an altar there vnto God, which heard me in the day of my tribulation, and was with me in the way which I went.

² Moses also spake vnto the heads of ye tribes concerning the children of Israel, saying, This is the thing which the Lord hath commanded,

²¹ When thou shalt vowe a vowe vnto the Lord thy God, thou shalt not be slacke to paye it: for the Lord thy God will surely require it of thee, and so it should be sinne vnto thee. ²² But when thou absteinest from vowing, it shalbe no sinne vnto thee. ²³ That which is gone out of thy lippes, thou shalt keepe and performe, as thou hast vowed it willingly vnto the Lord thy God: for thou hast spoken it with thy mouth.

¹⁴ Offer vnto God praise, and pay thy vowes vnto the most High,

¹³ I will go into thine House with burnt offrings, and will pay thee my vowes, ¹⁴ Which my lippes haue promised, and my mouth hath spoken in mine affliction.

¹¹ Vowe and performe vnto the Lord your God, all ye that be rounde about him: let them bring presents vnto him that ought to be feared.

¹⁴ I will pay my vowes vnto the Lord, euen nowe in the presence of all his people.

¹⁶ Beholde, Lord: for I am thy seruant, I am thy seruant, and the sonne of thine handmaide: thou hast broken my bondes. ¹⁷ I will offer to thee a sacrifice of prayse, and will call vpon the Name of the Lord. ¹⁸ I will pay my vowes vnto the Lord, euen nowe in the presence of all his people,

¹⁰⁶ I haue sworne and will performe it, that I will keepe thy righteous iudgements.

¹⁰ He hath not pleasure in the strength of an horse, neither delighteth he in the legs of man. ¹¹ But the Lord deliteth in them that feare him, and attende vpon his mercie.

²¹ And the Lord shall be knowen of the Egyptians, and the Egyptians shall knowe the Lord in that day, and doe sacrifice and oblation, and shall vowe vowes vnto the Lord, and performe them.

⁹ But I will sacrifice vnto thee with the voice of thankesgiuing, and will pay that that I haue vowed: saluation is of the Lord.

¹⁰ Who is there euen among you, that would shut the doores? and kindle not fire on mine altar in vaine, I haue no pleasure in you, sayeth the Lord of hostes, neither will I accept an offering at your hande.

³³ Againe, ye haue heard that it was sayd to them of old time, Thou shalt not forsweare thy selfe, but shalt performe thine othes to the Lord.

⁶ In burnt offerings, and sinne offrings thou hast had no pleasure.
