¹⁸ If any man haue a sonne that is stubburne and disobedient, which wil not hearken vnto the voice of his father, nor the voyce of his mother, and they haue chastened him, and he would not obey them,

¹² Honour thy father and thy mother, that thy dayes may be prolonged vpon the land, which the Lord thy God giueth thee.

¹⁵ Also hee that smiteth his father or his mother, shall die the death.

¹⁷ And hee that curseth his father or his mother, shall die the death.

³ Yee shall feare euery man his mother and his father, and shall keepe my Sabbaths: for I am the Lord your God.

⁹ If a Priestes daughter fall to play the whore, she polluteth her father: therefore shall she be burnt with fire.

⁵ Knowe therefore in thine heart, that as a man nourtereth his sonne, so the Lord thy God nourtereth thee.

¹⁶ Cursed be he that curseth his father and his mother: And all the people shall say: So be it.

¹⁴ I will be his father, and hee shall bee my sonne: and if he sinne, I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the plagues of the children of men.

⁸ My sonne, heare thy fathers instruction, and forsake not thy mothers teaching.

²⁴ He that spareth his rodde, hateth his sonne: but he that loueth him, chasteneth him betime.

⁵ A foole despiseth his fathers instruction: but he that regardeth correction, is prudent.

¹⁸ Chasten thy sonne while there is hope, and let not thy soule spare for his murmuring.

²⁰ He that curseth his father or his mother, his light shalbe put out in obscure darkenes.

¹⁵ Foolishnesse is bounde in the heart of a childe: but the rodde of correction shall driue it away from him.

¹³ Withhold not correction from the childe: if thou smite him with the rodde, he shall not die. ¹⁴ Thou shalt smite him with the rodde, and shalt deliuer his soule from hell.

²⁴ Hee that robbeth his father and mother, and sayth, It is no transgression, is the companion of a man that destroyeth.

¹⁷ Correct thy sonne and he will giue thee rest, and will giue pleasures to thy soule.

¹¹ There is a generation that curseth their father, and doeth not blesse their mother.

¹⁷ The eye that mocketh his father and despiseth the instruction of his mother, let ye rauens of the valley picke it out, and the yong eagles eate it.

² Heare, O heauens, and hearken, O earth: for the Lord hath sayde, I haue nourished and brought vp children, but they haue rebelled against me.

⁵ Wherefore shoulde ye be smitten any more? for ye fall away more and more: the whole head is sicke, and the whole heart is heauie.

³ O Lord, are not thine eyes vpon the trueth? thou hast striken them, but they haue not sorowed: thou hast consumed them, but they haue refused to receiue correction: they haue made their faces harder then a stone, and haue refused to returne.

¹⁸ I haue heard Ephraim lamenting thus, Thou hast corrected me, and I was chastised as an vntamed calfe: conuert thou me, and I shalbe conuerted: for thou art the Lord my God.

⁷ In thee haue they despised father and mother: in the middes of thee haue they oppressed the stranger: in thee haue they vexed the fatherlesse and the widowe.

¹³ Thou remainest in thy filthines and wickednes: because I would haue purged thee, and thou wast not purged, thou shalt not be purged from thy filthines, till I haue caused my wrath to light vpon thee.

¹¹ I haue ouerthrowe you, as God ouerthrew Sodom and Gomorah: and ye were as a firebrand pluckt out of the burning: yet haue ye not returned vnto me, saith the Lord. ¹² Therefore, thus wil I do vnto thee, O Israel: and because I wil doe this vnto thee, prepare to meete thy God, O Israel.

¹ Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. ² Honour thy father and mother (which is the first commandement with promise) ³ That it may be well with thee, and that thou mayst liue long on earth.

⁹ Moreouer we haue had the fathers of our bodies which corrected vs, and we gaue them reuerence: should we not much rather be in subiection vnto the father of spirites, that we might liue? ¹⁰ For they verely for a few dayes chastened vs after their owne pleasure: but he chasteneth vs for our profite, that we might be partakers of his holinesse. ¹¹ Now no chastising for the present seemeth to be ioyous, but, grieuous: but afterwarde, it bringeth the quiet fruite of righteousnesse, vnto them which are thereby exercised.
