¹³ Bring you men of wisedome and of vnderstanding, and knowen among your tribes, and I will make them rulers ouer you:

²¹ Moreouer, prouide thou among al the people men of courage, fearing God, men dealing truely, hating couetousnesse: and appoynt such ouer them to be rulers ouer thousandes, rulers ouer hundreths, rulers ouer fifties, and rulers ouer tennes.

¹⁶ Then the Lord said vnto Moses, Gather vnto me seuetie men of ye Elders of Israel, whome thou knowest, that they are the Elders of the people, and gouernonrs ouer them, and bring them vnto the Tabernacle of the Congregation, and let them stand there with thee, ¹⁷ And I will come downe, and talke with thee there, and take of the Spirite, which is vpon thee, and put vpon them, and they shall beare the burthen of the people with thee: so thou shalt not beare it alone.

²¹ Wherefore of these men which haue companied with vs, all the time that the Lord Iesus was conuersant among vs, ²² Beginning from the baptisme of Iohn vnto the day that hee was taken vp from vs, must one of them bee made a witnesse with vs of his resurrection. ²³ And they presented two, Ioseph called Barsabas, whose surname was Iustus, and Matthias.

² Then the twelue called the multitude of the disciples together, and sayd, It is not meete that we should leaue the worde of God to serue the tables. ³ Wherefore brethren, looke ye out among you seuen men of honest report, and full of the holy Ghost, and of wisedome, which we may appoint to this busines. ⁴ And we will giue our selues continually to prayer, and to the ministration of the worde. ⁵ And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Steuen a man full of fayth and of the holy Ghost, and Philippe, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas a Proselyte of Antiochia, ⁶ Which they set before the Apostles: and they prayed, and layed their hands on them.
