⁸ The lyon hath roared: who will not bee afraide? the Lord God hath spoken: who can but prophecie?

¹⁸ For I am full of matter, and the spirite within me compelleth me. ¹⁹ Beholde, my belly is as the wine, which hath no vent, and like the new bottels that brast.

⁹ Then I said, I will not make mention of him, nor speake any more in his Name. But his worde was in mine heart as a burning fire shut vp in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay.

² And he saide, The Lord shall roare from Zion, and vtter his voyce from Ierusalem, and the dwelling places of the shepheards shall perish, and the top of Carmel shall wither,

¹² But ye gaue the Nazarites wine to drinke, and commanded the Prophetes, saying, Prophecie not.

⁴ Will a lion roare in ye forest, when he hath no pray? or wil a lions whelpe cry out of his den, if he haue taken nothing?

¹² Also Amaziah sayde vnto Amos, O thou the Seer, goe, flee thou away into the land of Iudah, and there eate thy bread and prophecie there. ¹³ But prophecie no more at Beth-el: for it is the Kings chappel, and it is the Kings court. ¹⁴ Then answered Amos, and said to Amaziah, I was no Prophet, neither was I a prophets sonne, but I was an herdman, and a gatherer of wilde figs. ¹⁵ And the Lord tooke me as I followed the flocke, and the Lord said vnto me, Go, prophecie vnto my people Israel. ¹⁶ Now therefore heare thou the word of the Lord. Thou sayest, Prophecie not against Israel, and speake nothing against the house of Izhak. ¹⁷ Therefore thus sayth the Lord, Thy wife shall be an harlot in the citie, and thy sonnes and thy daughters shall fall by the sword, and thy land shall be deuided by line: and thou shalt die in a polluted land, and Israel shall surely go into captiuitie forth of his land.

¹ The worde of the Lord came also vnto Ionah the sonne of Amittai, saying, ² Arise, and goe to Nineueh, that great citie, and crye against it: for their wickednesse is come vp before mee. ³ But Ionah rose vp to flee into Tarshish from the presence of the Lord, and went downe to Iapho: and he founde a ship going to Tarshish: so he payed the fare thereof, and went downe into it, that he might go with them vnto Tarshish, from the presence of the Lord.

¹ And the worde of the Lord came vnto Ionah the seconde time, saying, ² Arise, goe vnto Nineueh that great citie, and preach vnto it the preaching, which I bid thee. ³ So Ionah arose and went to Nineueh according to ye word of the Lord: now Nineueh was a great and excellent citie of three dayes iourney.

²⁰ For we cannot but speake the things which we haue seene and heard.

²⁰ Go your way, and stand in the Temple, and speake to the people, all the wordes of this life.

²⁹ Then Peter and the Apostles answered, and sayd, We ought rather to obey God then men.

¹⁶ For though I preach the Gospel, I haue nothing to reioyce of: for necessitie is laid vpon me, and woe is vnto me, if I preach not the Gospel.

⁵ And one of the Elders saide vnto me, Weepe not: beholde, that Lion which is of the tribe of Iuda, that roote of Dauid, hath obteined to open the Booke, and to loose the seuen seales thereof.
