⁷ Therefore will I sende a fire vpon the walles of Azzah, and it shall deuoure the palaces thereof.

³⁵ Vengeance and recompence are mine: their foote shall slide in due time: for the day of their destruction is at hand, and the things that shall come vpon them, make haste.

⁴¹ If I whet my glittering sworde, and mine hand take holde on iudgement, I will execute vengeance on mine enemies, and will rewarde them that hate me. ⁴² I will make mine arrowes drunke with blood, (and my sword shall eate flesh) for the blood of the slaine, and of the captiues, when I beginne to take vengeance of the enemie. ⁴³ Ye nations, praise his people: for he will auenge the blood of his seruants, and will execute vengeance vpon his aduersaries, and will bee mercifull vnto his lande, and to his people.

⁸ He smote the Philistims vnto Azzah, and the coastes thereof, from the watch towre vnto the defensed citie.

⁶ For he went forth and fought against the Philistims and brake downe the wall of Gath, and the wall of Iabneh, and the wall of Ashdod, and built cities in Ashdod, and among the Philistims.

⁷ But God is the iudge: he maketh lowe and he maketh hie. ⁸ For in the hand of the Lord is a cup, and the wine is red: it is full mixt, and he powreth out of the same: surely all the wicked of the earth shall wring out and drinke the dregges thereof.

¹ O Lord God the auenger, O God the auenger, shewe thy selfe clearely. ² Exalt thy selfe, O Iudge of the worlde, and render a reward to the proude. ³ Lord how long shall the wicked, how long shall the wicked triumph? ⁴ They prate and speake fiercely: all the workers of iniquitie vaunt themselues. ⁵ They smite downe thy people, O Lord, and trouble thine heritage.

¹⁸ Euen Ierusalem, and the cities of Iudah, and the Kings thereof, and the princes thereof, to make them desolate, an astonishment, an hissing, and a curse, as appeareth this day: ¹⁹ Pharaoh also, King of Egypt, and his seruants, and his princes, and all his people: ²⁰ And all sortes of people, and all the Kings of the lande of Vz: and all the Kings of the lande of the Philistims, and Ashkelon, and Azzah, and Ekron, and the remnant of Ashdod:

⁵ Ashkelon shall see it, and feare, and Azzah also shalbe very sorowfull, and Ekron: for her countenance shalbe ashamed, and the King shall perish from Azzah, and Ashkelon shall not be inhabited. ⁶ And the stranger shall dwell in Ashdod, and I wil cut off the pride of the Philistims. ⁷ And I wil take away his blood out of his mouth, and his abominations from betweene his teeth: but he that remaineth, euen he shalbe for our God, and he shalbe as a prince in Iudah, but Ekron shalbe as a Iebusite.

¹⁹ Dearely beloued, auenge not your selues, but giue place vnto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine: I will repay, saith the Lord.
