²⁵ And when Iohn had fulfilled his course, he saide, Whom ye thinke that I am, I am not he: but beholde, there commeth one after me, whose shooe of his feete I am not worthy to loose.

¹¹ In deede I baptize you with water to amendment of life, but he that commeth after me, is mightier then I, whose shoes I am not worthie to beare: hee will baptize you with the holy Ghost, and with fire.

⁷ And preached, saying, A stronger then I commeth after me, whose shoes latchet I am not worthy to stoupe downe, and vnloose.

¹⁶ So when Herod heard it, he said, It is Iohn whom I beheaded: he is risen from the dead. ¹⁷ For Herod him selfe had sent forth, and had taken Iohn, and bound him in prison for Herodias sake, which was his brother Philippes wife, because he had maried her. ¹⁸ For Iohn sayd vnto Herod, It is not lawfull for thee to haue thy brothers wife. ¹⁹ Therefore Herodias layd waite against him, and would haue killed him, but she could not: ²⁰ For Herod feared Iohn, knowing that hee was a iust man, and an holy, and reuerenced him, and when he heard him, he did many things, and heard him gladly. ²¹ But the time being conuenient, when Herod on his birth day made a banket to his princes and captaines, and chiefe estates of Galile: ²² And the daughter of the same Herodias came in, and daunced, and pleased Herod, and them that sate at table together, the King sayd vnto the mayde, Aske of me what thou wilt, and I will giue it thee. ²³ And he sware vnto her, Whatsoeuer thou shalt aske of me, I will giue it thee, euen vnto the halfe of my kingdome. ²⁴ So she went forth, and said to her mother, What shall I aske? And she said, Iohn Baptists head. ²⁵ Then she came in straightway with haste vnto the King, and asked, saying, I would that thou shouldest giue me euen now in a charger the head of Iohn Baptist. ²⁶ Then the King was very sory: yet for his othes sake, and for their sakes which sate at table with him, he would not refuse her. ²⁷ And immediatly the King sent the hangman, and gaue charge that his head shoulde be brought in. So he went and beheaded him in the prison, ²⁸ And brought his head in a charger, and gaue it to the maide, and the maide gaue it to her mother.

²⁰ And he confessed and denied not, and said plainely, I am not that Christ. ²¹ And they asked him, What then? Art thou Elias? And he said, I am not. Art thou that Prophet? And he answered, No. ²² Then said they vnto him, Who art thou, that we may giue an answere to them that sent vs? What sayest thou of thy selfe? ²³ He said, I am the voyce of him that cryeth in the wildernesse, Make straight the way of the Lord, as said the Prophet Esaias.

²⁶ Iohn answered them, saying, I baptize with water: but there is one among you, whom ye knowe not. ²⁷ He it is that commeth after me, which was before me, whose shoe latchet I am not worthie to vnloose.

²⁹ The next day Iohn, seeth Iesus comming vnto him, and saith, Beholde that Lambe of God, which taketh away the sinne of the world.

³⁴ And I sawe, and bare record that this is that Sonne of God.

³⁶ And he behelde Iesus walking by, and said, Beholde that Lambe of God.

²⁷ Iohn answered, and saide, A man can receiue nothing, except it be giuen him from heauen. ²⁸ Yee your selues are my witnesses, that I sayde, I am not that Christ, but that I am sent before him. ²⁹ He that hath the bride, is the bridegrome: but the friend of the bridegrome which standeth and heareth him, reioyceth greatly, because of the bridegromes voyce. This my ioy therefore is fulfilled.

³⁴ Iesus saide vnto them, My meate is that I may doe the will of him that sent me, and finish his worke.

¹⁸ Hee that speaketh of himselfe, seeketh his owne glorie: but hee that seeketh his glory that sent him, the same is true, and no vnrighteousnes is in him.

²⁸ After, when Iesus knew that all things were performed, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, he said, I thirst. ²⁹ And there was set a vessell full of vineger: and they filled a spondge with vineger: and put it about an Hyssope stalke, and put it to his mouth. ³⁰ Nowe when Iesus had receiued of the vineger, he saide, It is finished, and bowed his head, and gaue vp the ghost.

³⁶ Howbeit, Dauid after hee had serued his time by the counsell of God, hee slept, and was laid with his fathers, and sawe corruption.

⁴ Then saide Paul, Iohn verely baptized with the baptisme of repentance, saying vnto the people, that they shoulde beleeue in him, which should come after him, that is, in Christ Iesus.

²⁴ But I passe not at all, neither is my life deare vnto my selfe, so that I may fulfill my course with ioye, and the ministration which I haue receiued of the Lord Iesus, to testifie the Gospell of the grace of God.

⁵ For we preach not our selues, but Christ Iesus the Lord, and our selues your seruaunts for Iesus sake.

⁷ I haue fought a good fight, and haue finished my course: I haue kept the faith.

⁷ And when they haue finished their testimonie, the beast that commeth out of the bottomlesse pit, shall make warre against them, and shall ouercome them, and kill them.
