⁴ One that can rule his owne house honestly, hauing children vnder obedience with all honestie.

¹⁹ For I knowe him that he will commande his sonnes and his houshold after him, that they keepe the way of the Lord, to doe righteousnesse and iudgement, that the Lord may bring vpon Abraham that he hath spoken vnto him.

¹⁵ And if it seeme euill vnto you to serue the Lord, choose you this day whome yee will serue, whether the gods which your fathers serued (that were beyond the flood) or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwel: but I and mine house will serue the Lord.

² I will doe wisely in the perfite way, till thou commest to me: I will walke in the vprightnes of mine heart in the middes of mine house. ³ I wil set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the worke of them that fall away: it shall not cleaue vnto me. ⁴ A froward heart shall depart from me: I will knowe none euill. ⁵ Him that priuily slandereth his neighbour, wil I destroy: him that hath a proude looke and hie heart, I cannot suffer. ⁶ Mine eyes shalbe vnto the faithfull of the lande, that they may dwell with me: he that walketh in a perfite way, he shall serue me. ⁷ There shall no deceitful person dwell within mine house: he that telleth lyes, shall not remaine in my sight. ⁸ Betimes will I destroy all the wicked of the land, that I may cut off all the workers of iniquitie from the Citie of the Lord.

² A deuoute man, and one that feared God with all his housholde, which gaue much almes to the people, and prayed God continually.

⁸ Furthermore, brethre, whatsoeuer things are true, whatsoeuer things are honest, whatsoeuer thinges are iust, whatsoeuer thinges are pure, whatsoeuer thinges are worthie loue, whatsoeuer things are of good report, if there be any vertue, or if there be any praise, thinke on these things,

¹² Let the Deacons be the husbands of one wife, and such as can rule their children well, and their owne housholdes.

⁶ If any be vnreproueable, the husband of one wife, hauing faithfull children, which are not slandered of riot, neither are disobedient.

² That the elder men be watchful, graue, teperate, sounde in the faith, in loue, and in patience:
