¹⁷ And after these things, the sonne of the wife of the house fell sicke, and his sicknesse was so sore, that there was no breath left in him.

¹ And after these things God did proue Abraham, and said vnto him, Abraham. Who answered, Here am I. ² And he said, Take nowe thine onely sonne Izhak whom thou louest, and get thee vnto the land of Moriah, and offer him there for a burnt offering vpon one of the mountaines, which I will shewe thee.

¹⁸ And when the childe was growen, it fell on a day, that he went out to his father, and to the reapers. ¹⁹ And he sayde to his father, Mine head, mine head. Who sayd to his seruant, Beare him to his mother. ²⁰ And hee tooke him and brought him to his mother, and hee sate on her knees till noone, and dyed.

¹⁰ In whose hande is the soule of euery liuing thing, and the breath of all mankinde.

¹⁴ If he set his heart vpon man, and gather vnto him selfe his spirit and his breath,

²⁹ But if thou hide thy face, they are troubled: if thou take away their breath, they dye and returne to their dust.

²³ But hast lift thy selfe vp against the Lord of heauen, and they haue brought the vessels of his House before thee, and thou and thy princes, thy wiues and thy concubines haue drunke wine in them, and thou hast praysed the gods of siluer and golde, of brasse, yron, wood and stone, which neither see, neither heare, nor vnderstand: and the God in whose hand thy breath is and all thy wayes, him hast thou not glorified.

¹⁰ And I will powre vpon the house of Dauid, and vpon the inhabitants of Ierusalem the Spirite of grace and of compassion, and they shall looke vpon me, whom they haue pearced, and they shall lament for him, as one mourneth for his onely sonne, and be sorie for him as one is sorie for his first borne.

³ Therefore his sisters sent vnto him, saying, Lord, beholde, he whome thou louest, is sicke. ⁴ When Iesus heard it, he saide, This sickenes is not vnto death, but for the glorie of God, that the Sonne of God might be glorified thereby.

¹⁴ Then saide Iesus vnto them plainely, Lazarus is dead.

² My brethren, count it exceeding ioy, when ye fall into diuers tentations, ³ Knowing that ye trying of your faith bringeth forth patience, ⁴ And let patience haue her perfect worke, that ye may be perfect and entier, lacking nothing.

¹² Blessed is ye man, that endureth tentation: for when he is tried, hee shall receiue the crowne of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that loue him.

²⁶ For as the body without ye spirit is dead, euen so the faith without workes is dead.

⁷ That the triall of your faith, being much more precious then golde that perisheth (though it be tried with fire) might bee founde vnto your praise, and honour and glorie at the appearing of Iesus Christ:
