⁷ And they spake vnto him, saying, If thou be a seruant vnto this people this day, and serue them, and answere them, and speake kinde wordes to them, they will be thy seruants for euer.

³ Then Absalom said vnto him, See, thy matters are good and righteous, but there is no man deputed of the King to heare thee. ⁴ Absalom sayd moreouer, Oh that I were made Iudge in the lande, that euery man which hath any matter of controuersie, might come to me, that I might do him iustice. ⁵ And when any man came neere to him, and did him obeisance, he put forth his hand, and tooke him, and kissed him. ⁶ And on this maner did Absalom to al Israel, that came to the King for iudgement: so Absalom stale the hearts of the men of Israel.

¹³ And the king answered the people sharpely, and left the old mens counsell that they gaue him,

⁶ And King Rehoboam tooke counsel with the olde men that had stande before Salomon his father, while hee yet liued, saying, What counsell giue ye that I may answere this people? ⁷ And they spake vnto him, saying, If thou be kinde to this people, and please them, and speake louing words to them, they will be thy seruants for euer.

¹ A soft answere putteth away wrath: but grieuous wordes stirre vp anger.

⁴ If the spirite of him that ruleth, rise vp against thee, leaue not thy place: for gentlenes pacifieth great sinnes.

¹³ And the Lord answered the Angel that talked with me, with good wordes and comfortable wordes.

⁴³ But it shall not be so among you: but whosoeuer will be great among you, shall be your seruant. ⁴⁴ And whosoeuer will be chiefe of you, shall be the seruant of all.

⁷ But he made himself of no reputation, and tooke on him ye forme of a seruant, and was made like vnto men, and was founde in shape as a man. ⁸ He humbled himselfe, and became obedient vnto the death, euen the death of the Crosse. ⁹ Wherefore God hath also highly exalted him, and giuen him a Name aboue euery name, ¹⁰ That at the Name of Iesus shoulde euery knee bowe, both of things in heauen, and things in earth, and things vnder the earth, ¹¹ And that euery tongue shoulde confesse that Iesus Christ is the Lord, vnto the glory of God the Father.
