⁵⁶ The sting of death is sinne: and ye strength of sinne is the Lawe.

¹⁷ Also to Adam he said, Because thou hast obeyed the voyce of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, (whereof I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eate of it) cursed is the earth for thy sake: in sorowe shalt thou eate of it all the dayes of thy life. ¹⁸ Thornes also, and thistles shall it bring foorth to thee, and thou shalt eate the herbe of the fielde. ¹⁹ In the sweate of thy face shalt thou eate bread, till thou returne to the earth: for out of it wast thou taken, because thou art dust, and to dust shalt thou returne.

³ Thou turnest man to destruction: againe thou sayest, Returne, ye sonnes of Adam. ⁴ For a thousande yeeres in thy sight are as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night. ⁵ Thou hast ouerflowed them: they are as a sleepe: in the morning he groweth like the grasse: ⁶ In the morning it florisheth and groweth, but in the euening it is cut downe and withereth. ⁷ For we are consumed by thine anger, and by thy wrath are we troubled. ⁸ Thou hast set our iniquities before thee, and our secret sinnes in the light of thy countenance. ⁹ For all our dayes are past in thine anger: we haue spent our yeeres as a thought. ¹⁰ The time of our life is threescore yeeres and ten, and if they be of strength, fourescore yeeres: yet their strength is but labour and sorowe: for it is cut off quickly, and we flee away. ¹¹ Who knoweth the power of thy wrath? for according to thy feare is thine anger.

³² The wicked shall be cast away for his malice: but the righteous hath hope in his death.

²¹ Then saide Iesus againe vnto them, I goe my way, and ye shall seeke me, and shall die in your sinnes, Whither I goe, can ye not come.

²⁴ I said therefore vnto you, That ye shall die in your sinnes: for except ye beleeue, that I am he, ye shall die in your sinnes.

¹⁹ Now we know that whatsoeuer ye Lawe saieth, it saieth it to them which are vnder ye Law, that euery mouth may bee stopped, and all the world be subiect to the iudgement of God. ²⁰ Therefore by the woorkes of the Lawe shall no flesh be iustified in his sight: for by the Lawe commeth the knowledge of sinne.

¹⁵ For the Lawe causeth wrath: for where no Lawe is, there is no transgression.

¹² Wherefore, as by one man sinne entred into ye world, and death by sinne, and so death went ouer all men: in who all men haue sinned. ¹³ For vnto the time of the Law was sinne in the worlde, but sinne is not imputed, while there is no lawe.

¹⁵ But yet the gift is not so, as is the offence: for if through the offence of that one, many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man Iesus Christ, hath abounded vnto many.

¹⁷ For if by the offence of one, death reigned through one, much more shall they which receiue that abundance of grace, and of that gift of that righteousnesse, reigne in life through one, that is, Iesus Christ.

²⁰ Moreouer the Law entred thereupon that the offence shoulde abound: neuerthelesse, where sinne abounded, there grace abounded much more:

²³ For the wages of sinne is death: but the gift of God is eternall life, through Iesus Christ our Lord.

⁵ For when we were in ye flesh, the affections of sinnes, which were by the Law, had force in our members, to bring foorth fruit vnto death. ⁶ But now we are deliuered from the Lawe, he being dead in whom we were holden, that we should serue in newnesse of Spirite, and not in the oldnesse of the letter. ⁷ What shall we say then? Is the Lawe sinne? God forbid. Nay, I knewe not sinne, but by the Lawe: for I had not knowen lust, except the Lawe had sayd, Thou shalt not lust. ⁸ But sinne tooke an occasion by ye commandement, and wrought in me all maner of concupiscence: for without the Lawe sinne is dead. ⁹ For I once was aliue, without the Law: but when the commandement came, sinne reuiued, ¹⁰ But I died: and the same commandement which was ordeined vnto life, was found to be vnto me vnto death. ¹¹ For sinne tooke occasion by the commandement, and deceiued me, and thereby slewe me. ¹² Wherefore the Lawe is holy, and that commandement is holy, and iust, and good. ¹³ Was that then which is good, made death vnto me? God forbid: but sinne, that it might appeare sinne, wrought death in me by that which is good, that sinne might be out of measure sinfull by the commandement.

¹⁰ For as many as are of the workes of the Lawe, are vnder the curse: for it is written, Cursed is euery man that continueth not in all things, which are written in the booke of the Law, to doe them. ¹¹ And that no man is iustified by the Law in the sight of God, it is euident: for the iust shall liue by faith. ¹² And the Lawe is not of faith: but the man that shall doe those things, shall liue in them. ¹³ Christ hath redeemed vs from the curse of the Lawe, made a curse for vs, (for it is written, Cursed is euery one that hangeth on tree)

²⁷ And as it is appointed vnto men that they shall once die, and after that commeth the iudgement:
