¹⁰ And Iabez called on the God of Israel, saying, If thou wilt blesse me in deede, and enlarge my coastes, and if thine hand be with me, and thou wilt cause me to be deliuered from euill, that I be not hurt. And God graunted the thing that he asked.

² And I will make of thee a great nation, and will blesse thee, and make thy name great, and thou shalt be a blessing.

⁸ Afterward remouing thence vnto a moutaine Eastward from Beth-el, he pitched his tent hauing Beth-el on the Westside, and Haai on the East: and there he built an altar vnto the Lord, and called on the Name of the Lord.

²⁶ And he saide, Let me goe, for the morning appeareth. Who answered, I will not let thee go except thou blesse me.

²⁸ Then said he, Thy name shalbe called Iaakob no more, but Israel: because thou hast had power with God, thou shalt also preuaile with men.

²⁰ And he set vp there an altar, and called it, The mightie God of Israel.

¹⁶ The Angel, which hath deliuered me from all euill, blesse the children, and let my name be named vpon them, and the name of my fathers Abraham and Izhak, that they may growe as fish into a multitude in the middes of the earth.

¹⁴ Then the children of Ioseph spake vnto Ioshua, saying, Why hast thou giuen me but one lot, and one portion to inherite, seeing I am a great people, for as much as the Lord hath blessed me hitherto? ¹⁵ Ioshua then answered them, If thou be much people, get thee vp to the wood, and cut trees for thy selfe there in the lande of the Perizzites, and of the gyants, if mount Ephraim be too narowe for thee. ¹⁶ Then the children of Ioseph saide, The mountaine will not be ynough for vs: and all the Canaanites that dwell in the lowe countrey haue charets of yron, aswell they in Beth-shean, and in the townes of the same, as they in the valley of Izreel. ¹⁷ And Ioshua spake vnto the house of Ioseph, to Ephraim, and to Manasseh, saying, Thou art a great people, and hast great power, and shalt not haue one lot. ¹⁸ Therefore the mountaine shall be thine: for it is a wood, and thou shalt cut it downe: and the endes of it shall be thine, and thou shalt cast out the Canaanites, though they haue yron charets, and though they be strong.

²⁷ Neither did Manasseh destroie Bethshean with her townes, nor Taanach with her townes, nor the inhabitantes of Dor with her townes, nor the inhabitants of Ibleam with her townes, neither the inhabitants of Megiddo with her townes: but the Canaanites dwelled still in that lande. ²⁸ Neuerthelesse when Israel was strong, they put the Canaanites to tribute, and expelled them not wholly. ²⁹ Likewise Ephraim expelled not the Canaanites that dwelt in Gezer, but the Canaanites dwelt in Gezer among them. ³⁰ Neither did Zebulun expell the inhabitants of Kitron, nor the inhabitants of Nahalol, but the Canaanites dwelt among them, and became tributaries. ³¹ Neither did Asher cast out the inhabitants of Accho, nor the inhabitants of Zidon, nor of Ahlab, nor of Achzib, nor of Helbah, nor of Aphik, nor of Rehob, ³² But the Asherites dwelt among the Canaanites the inhabitantes of the lande: for they did not driue them out. ³³ Neither did Naphtali driue out the inhabitants of Beth-shemesh, nor the inhabitants of Beth-anath, but dwelt among the Canaanites the inhabitants of the lande: neuerthelesse the inhabitantes of Beth-shemesh, and of Beth-anath became tributaries vnto them. ³⁴ And the Amorites droue the children of Dan into the mountaine: so that they suffered them not to come downe to the valley. ³⁵ And the Ammonites dwelt still in mount Heres in Aijalon, and in Shaalbim, and when the hand of Iosephs familie preuailed, they became tributaries: ³⁶ And the coast of the Amorites was from Maaleh-akrabbim, euen from Selah and vpward.

¹⁷ Then Eli answered, and sayd, Go in peace, and the God of Israel graunt thy petition that thou hast asked of him.

⁷ And now, O Lord my God, thou hast made thy seruant King in steade of Dauid my father: and I am but a yong childe, and know not howe to go out and in. ⁸ And thy seruant is in the mids of thy people, which thou hast chosen, euen a great people which cannot be told nor nobred for multitude. ⁹ Giue therefore vnto thy seruant an vnderstanding heart, to iudge thy people, that I may discerne betweene good and bad: for who is able to iudge this thy mightie people? ¹⁰ And this pleased the Lord well, that Salomon had desired this thing. ¹¹ And God sayde vnto him, Because thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for thy selfe long life, neyther hast asked riches for thy selfe, nor hast asked the life of thine enemies, but hast asked for thy selfe vnderstanding to heare iudgement, ¹² Beholde, I haue done according to thy wordes: lo, I haue giuen thee a wise and an vnderstanding heart, so that there hath bene none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall arise the like vnto thee. ¹³ And I haue also giuen thee that, which thou hast not asked, both riches and honour, so that among the Kings there shall be none like vnto thee all thy dayes.

⁸ Praise the Lord and call vpon his Name: declare his workes among the people.

⁴ I am as one mocked of his neighbour, who calleth vpon God, and he heareth him: the iust and the vpright is laughed to scorne.

²⁷ Thou shalt make thy praier vnto him, and he shall heare thee, and thou shalt render thy vowes. ²⁸ Thou shalt also decree a thing, and he shall establish it vnto thee, and the light shall shine vpon thy wayes.

⁴ He asked life of thee, and thou gauest him a long life for euer and euer.

³ When I helde my tongue, my bones consumed, or when I roared all the day, ⁴ (For thine hand is heauie vpon me, day and night: and my moysture is turned into ye drought of summer. Selah)

⁸ Make me to heare ioye and gladnes, that the bones, which thou hast broken, may reioyce.

¹² Restore to me the ioy of thy saluation, and stablish me with thy free Spirit.

¹⁶ But I will call vnto God, and the Lord will saue me.

² Because thou hearest the prayer, vnto thee shall all flesh come.

¹⁹ But God hath heard me, and considered the voyce of my prayer. ²⁰ Praysed be God, which hath not put backe my prayer, nor his mercie from me.

¹⁷ His name shall be for euer: his name shall indure as long as the sunne: all nations shall blesse him, and be blessed in him.

⁶ Moses and Aaron were among his Priests, and Samuel among such as call vpon his Name: these called vpon the Lord, and he heard them.

¹ I love the Lord, because he hath heard my voyce and my prayers. ² For he hath inclined his eare vnto me, whe I did call vpon him in my dayes. ³ When the snares of death copassed me, and the griefes of the graue caught me: when I founde trouble and sorowe. ⁴ Then I called vpon the Name of the Lord, saying, I beseech thee, O Lord, deliuer my soule.

¹⁷³ Let thine hand helpe me: for I haue chosen thy precepts.

²² The blessing of the Lord, it maketh riche, and he doeth adde no sorowes with it.

⁸ Remooue farre from me vanitie and lyes: giue me not pouertie, nor riches: feede me with foode conuenient for me,

¹⁰ Feare thou not, for I am with thee: be not afraide, for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee, and helpe thee, and will susteine thee with the right hand of my iustice.

¹⁷ When the poore and the needy seeke water, and there is none (their tongue faileth for thirst: I the Lord will heare them: I the God of Israel will not forsake them)

³ Call vnto me, and I will answere thee, and shewe thee great and mightie things, which thou knowest not.

¹³ And leade vs not into tentation, but deliuer vs from euill: for thine is the kingdome, and the power, and the glorie for euer. Amen.

⁷ Aske, and it shall be giuen you: seeke, and ye shall finde: knocke, and it shall be opened vnto you. ⁸ For whosoeuer asketh, receiueth: and he, that seeketh, findeth: and to him that knocketh, it shall be opened. ⁹ For what man is there among you, which if his sonne aske him bread, woulde giue him a stone? ¹⁰ Or if he aske fish, wil he giue him a serpent? ¹¹ If ye then, which are euill, can giue to your children good giftes, howe much more shall your Father which is in heauen, giue good thinges to them that aske him?

⁷⁵ Then Peter remembred the wordes of Iesus, which had sayde vnto him, Before the cocke crowe thou shalt denie me thrise. So he went out, and wept bitterly.

⁴² Saying, O if thou haddest euen knowen at the least in this thy day those things, which belong vnto thy peace! but nowe are they hid from thine eyes.

²⁸ And I giue vnto them eternall life, and they shall neuer perish, neither shall any plucke them out of mine hand.

¹⁷ He said vnto him the third time, Simon the sonne of Iona, louest thou me? Peter was sorie because he said to him the third time, Louest thou me? and said vnto him, Lord, thou knowest all things: thou knowest that I loue thee. Iesus saide vnto him, Feede my sheepe.

²⁶ First vnto you hath God raysed vp his Sonne Iesus, and him hee hath sent to blesse you, in turning euery one of you from your iniquities.

¹² For there is no difference betweene the Iewe and the Grecian: for he that is Lord ouer all, is rich vnto all, that call on him. ¹³ For whosoeuer shall call vpon the Name of the Lord, shalbe saued. ¹⁴ But how shall they call on him, in whome they haue not beleeued? and how shall they beleeue in him, of whom they haue not heard? and howe shall they heare without a preacher?

⁹ Let loue be without dissimulation. Abhorre that which is euill, and cleaue vnto that which is good.

¹⁹ For your obedience is come abroade among all: I am glad therefore of you: but yet I woulde haue you wise vnto that which is good, and simple concerning euill.

² Vnto the Church of God, which is at Corinthus, to them that are sanctified in Christ Iesus, Saintes by calling, with all that call on the Name of our Lord Iesus Christ in euery place, both their Lord, and ours:

¹ Bvt I determined thus in my selfe, that I would not come againe to you in heauinesse. ² For if I make you sorie, who is he then that shoulde make me glad, but ye same which is made sorie by me? ³ And I wrote this same thing vnto you, lest when I came, I should take heauines of them, of whom I ought to reioyce: this confidence haue I in you all, that my ioye is the ioye of you all. ⁴ For in great affliction, and anguish of heart I wrote vnto you with many teares: not that yee should be made sorie, but that ye might perceiue the loue which I haue, specially vnto you. ⁵ And if any hath caused sorowe, the same hath not made mee sorie, but partly (lest I should more charge him) you all. ⁶ It is sufficient vnto the same man, that hee was rebuked of many. ⁷ So that nowe contrariwise yee ought rather to forgiue him, and comfort him, lest the same shoulde bee swalowed vp with ouermuch heauinesse.

³ Blessed be God, and the Father of our Lord Iesus Christ, which hath blessed vs with all spirituall blessing in heauenly thinges in Christ,

²⁰ Vnto him therefore that is able to do exceeding aboundantly aboue all that we aske or thinke, according to the power that worketh in vs,

³⁰ And grieue not the holy Spirit of God, by whom ye are sealed vnto ye day of redemption.

¹⁸ And the Lord will deliuer me from euery euil worke, and will preserue me vnto his heauenly kingdome: to whome be praise for euer and euer, Amen.

¹⁹ As many as I loue, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore and amend.
