¹⁶ Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain; that whatever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it unto you.

³⁰ ¶ The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and he that wins souls is wise.

¹ ¶ Listen, O isles, unto me, and hearken, ye peoples, from far, The LORD has called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother he has remembered my name. ² And he has made my mouth like a sharp sword; with the shadow of his hand he has covered me, and made me a clean arrow; in his quiver he has kept me. ³ And he said unto me, Thou art my servant, O Israel; in thee I will glory.

¹⁰ For as the rain comes down, and the snow from the heavens, and does not return there, but waters the earth and makes it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower and bread to the eater: ¹¹ So shall my Word be that goes forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall be prospered in that for which I sent it. ¹² For ye shall go out with joy, and be returned with peace: the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands. ¹³ Instead of the thorn shall come up the fir tree, and instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle tree: and it shall be to the LORD for a name, for an eternal sign that shall not be cut off.

⁵ Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the Gentiles. ⁶ Then I said, Ah, Lord GOD! behold, I do not know how to speak: for I am a child. ⁷ But the LORD said unto me, Do not say, I am a child; for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak.

⁷ ¶ And the remnant of Jacob shall be in the midst of many peoples as the dew of the LORD, as the rains upon the grass, which did not expect a man, nor did they expect the sons of men.

⁴ Do not be as your fathers, unto whom the former prophets have cried, saying, Thus hath the LORD of the hosts said; Turn now from your evil ways and from your evil doings: but they did not hear, nor hearken unto me, said the LORD. ⁵ Your fathers, where are they? and the prophets, do they live for ever? ⁶ But my words and my statutes, which I commanded my servants the prophets, did they not take hold of your fathers? Therefore they returned from captivity and said, Like as the LORD of the hosts thought to do unto us, according to our ways and accor

²² And all things, whatever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.

¹⁸ And Jesus came and spoke unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. ¹⁹ Go ye therefore and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

¹⁵ And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. ¹⁶ He that believes and is baptized shall be saved, but he that believes not shall be condemned.

¹³ And when it was day, he called unto him his disciples; and of them he chose twelve, whom he also named apostles:

⁴⁷ and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning from Jerusalem. ⁴⁸ And ye are witnesses of these things. ⁴⁹ And, behold, I shall send the promise of my Father upon you, but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem until ye are endued with power from on high.

⁷⁰ Jesus answered them, Have not I chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil?

¹⁸ ¶ I speak not of you all; I know whom I have chosen; but that the scripture may be fulfilled, He that eats bread with me has lifted up his heel against me,

¹³ And whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. ¹⁴ If ye ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

⁷ If ye abide in me and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. ⁸ In this is my Father clarified, in that ye bear much fruit; and in this manner ye shall be my disciples.

¹⁹ If ye were of the world, the world would love its own; but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.

²³ ¶ And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give you. ²⁴ Until now ye have asked nothing in my name; ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be fulfilled.

²¹ Then Jesus said to them again, Peace be unto you; as my Father has sent me, even so send I you. ²² And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said unto them, Receive ye the Holy Spirit; ²³ unto those whose sins ye release, they shall be released; and unto those whose sins ye retain, they shall be retained.

⁸ But ye shall receive the virtue of the Holy Spirit which shall come upon you, and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem and in all Judaea and in Samaria and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

²⁴ And they prayed and said, Thou, Lord, who knowest the hearts of everyone, show which of these two thou hast chosen,

¹⁵ But the Lord said unto him, Go; for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles and kings and the sons of Israel;

⁴¹ not to all the people, but unto witnesses chosen before of God, even to us, who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead.

²⁵ And now, behold, I know that ye all, among whom I have gone preaching the kingdom of God, shall see my face no more. ²⁶ Therefore I take you to record this day that I am pure from the blood of everyone. ²⁷ For I have not refrained from declaring unto you the full counsel of God. ²⁸ Take heed therefore unto yourselves and to all the flock, over which the Holy Spirit has placed you as bishops to feed the church of God, which he has purchased with his own blood.

¹⁴ And he said, The God of our fathers has chosen thee that thou should know his will and see that Just One and should hear the voice of his mouth.

⁵ By whom we have received the grace and the apostleship, to cause the faith to be obeyed among all the Gentiles in his name,

¹³ Now I would not have you ignorant, brethren, that many times I purposed to come unto you (but up until now I have been unable) that I might have some fruit among you also, even as among other Gentiles.

¹¹ (for the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand: not of works, but of him that calls), ¹² it was said unto her, The elder shall serve the younger. ¹³ As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated. ¹⁴ ¶ What shall we say then? Is there injustice in God? No, in no wise. ¹⁵ For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. ¹⁶ So then it is not of him that wills, nor of him that runs, but of God that has mercy.

²¹ Has not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour and another unto dishonour?

⁴ For the things that were written beforehand were written for our instruction that we, through patient endurance and through the comfort of the scriptures, might have hope.

¹⁵ Nevertheless I have written, brethren, in part boldly, as admonishing you by the grace that is given to me of God, ¹⁶ being the minister of Jesus Christ, to the Gentiles, ministering the gospel of God, that the offering of the Gentiles might be well pleasing, sanctified by the Holy Spirit. ¹⁷ ¶ Therefore I have something to boast of in Christ Jesus, with regard to God. ¹⁸ For I will not dare to speak of any of those things which Christ has not wrought by me, unto the obedience of the Gentiles, with word and with deed, ¹⁹ with power of signs and wonders, in virtue of the Spirit of God; so that from Jerusalem and round about unto Illyricum, I have filled the entire area with the gospel of the Christ.

⁶ I have planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase. ⁷ So then neither is he that plants anything, neither he that waters, but God that gives the increase.

¹⁶ For though I preach the gospel, I have no reason to glory, for it is an obligation laid upon me; for woe is me, if I do not preach the gospel! ¹⁷ For if I do this thing willingly, I have a reward; but if against my will, the stewardship of the gospel is committed unto me. ¹⁸ What reward, then, shall I have? That preaching the gospel, I may make the gospel of the Christ without charge, that I abuse not my authority in the gospel.

¹¹ Now all these things happened unto them as types, and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the ages are come.

¹⁵ But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother’s womb and called me by his grace,

¹⁰ For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God has prepared that we should walk in them.

⁶ which is come unto you, as it is in all the world, and brings forth fruit, as it does also in you, since the day ye heard it and knew the grace of God in truth,

²³ if ye continue in the faith grounded and settled and are not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard and which is preached to every creature which is under heaven, of which I Paul am made a minister,

⁷ of which I am ordained a preacher and an apostle (I speak the truth in Christ and do not lie), a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity.

¹¹ unto which I am appointed a preacher and an apostle and a teacher of the Gentiles.

² And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.

¹⁵ and that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto saving health by the faith which is in Christ Jesus. ¹⁶ All scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, ¹⁷ that the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

⁵ ¶ For this cause I left thee in Crete, that thou should correct that which is lacking and set in place elders in every city, as I had commanded thee:

⁴ ¶ By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts, and by it he being dead yet speaks.

¹⁸ And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace unto those that make peace.

¹⁴ as obedient sons, not conforming yourselves with the former desires that you had before in your ignorance, ¹⁵ but as he who has called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; ¹⁶ for it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy. ¹⁷ And if ye invoke as Father, he who without respect of persons judges according to the work of each one, converse in fear the entire time of your sojourning here, ¹⁸ knowing that ye have been ransomed from your vain conversation (which you received from your fathers), not with corruptible things like silver and gold, ¹⁹ but with the precious blood of the Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without contamination, ²⁰ already ordained from before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for love of you, ²¹ who by him do believe God, who raised him up from the dead and has given him glory: that your faith and hope might be in God.

² considering your chaste conversation which is in fear.

¹⁵ but sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and be ready always to respond to every man that asks you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and reverence,

¹⁰ In this does the charity consist, not because we had loved God, but because he loved us and has sent his Son to be the reconciliation for our sins.

¹⁹ We love him, because he first loved us.
