⁵ Cover not their iniquity, and let not their sin be blotted out from before thy face, because they have mocked thy builders.

¹ Blessed is the man who hath not walked in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stood in the way of sinners, nor sat in the chair of pestilence: ² But his will is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he shall meditate day and night.

⁷ Blessed be the man that trusteth in the Lord, and the Lord shall be his confidence. ⁸ And he shall be as a tree that is planted by the waters, that spreadeth out its roots towards moisture: and it shall not fear when the heat cometh. And the leaf thereof shall be green, and in the time of drought it shall not be solicitous, neither shall it cease at any time to bring forth fruit.

¹⁸ Who is a God like to thee, who takest away iniquity, and passest by the sin of the remnant of thy inheritance? he will send his fury in no more, because he delighteth in mercy. ¹⁹ He will turn again, and have mercy on us: he will put away our iniquities: and he will cast all our sins into the bottom of the sea.

³ Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. ⁴ Blessed are the meek: for they shall possess the land. ⁵ Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted. ⁶ Blessed are they that hunger and thirst after justice: for they shall have their fill. ⁷ Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy. ⁸ Blessed are the clean of heart: they shall see God. ⁹ Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God. ¹⁰ Blessed are they that suffer persecution for justice' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. ¹¹ Blessed are ye when they shall revile you, and persecute you, and speak all that is evil against you, untruly, for my sake: ¹² Be glad and rejoice for your reward is very great in heaven. For so they persecuted the prophets that were before you.

¹⁷ And Jesus answering said to him: Blessed art thou, Simon Bar-Jona: because flesh and blood hath not revealed it to thee, but my Father who is in heaven.

²⁸ But he said: Yea rather, blessed are they who hear the word of God and keep it.

³⁸ Be it known therefore to you, men, brethren, that through him forgiveness of sins is preached to you: and from all the things from which you could not be justified by the law of Moses. ³⁹ In him every one that believeth is justified.

⁶ As David also termeth the blessedness of a man to whom God reputeth justice without works: ⁷ Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven: and whose sins are covered. ⁸ Blessed is the man to whom the Lord hath not imputed sin.

¹⁴ Blessed are they that wash their robes in the blood of the Lamb: that they may have a right to the tree of life and may enter in by the gates into the city.
