⁵ Praise the name of the Lord. For he spoke, and they were made: he commanded, and they were created.

¹ In the beginning God created heaven, and earth. ² And the earth was void and empty, and darkness was upon the face of the deep; and the spirit of God moved over the waters.

⁶ And God said: Let there be a firmament made amidst the waters: and let it divide the waters from the waters.

⁶ By the word of the Lord the heavens were established; and all the power of them by the spirit of his mouth: ⁷ Gathering together the waters of the sea, as in a vessel; laying up the depths in storehouses. ⁸ Let all the earth fear the Lord, and let all the inhabitants of the world be in awe of him. ⁹ For he spoke and they were made: he commanded and they were created.

⁵ For the sea is his, and he made it: and his hands formed the dry land.

¹¹ Thus then shall you say to them: The gods that have not made heaven and earth, let them perish from the earth, and from among those places that are under heaven. ¹² He that maketh the earth by his power, that prepareth the world by his wisdom, and stretcheth out the heavens by his knowledge. ¹³ At his voice he giveth a multitude of waters in the heaven, and lifteth up the clouds from the ends of the earth: he maketh lightnings for rain, and bringeth forth the wind out of his treasures.

⁶ He that buildeth his ascension in heaven, and hath founded his bundle upon the earth: who calleth the waters of the sea, and poureth them out upon the face of the earth, the Lord is his name.

¹¹ Thou art worthy, O Lord our God, to receive glory and honour and power. Because thou hast created all things: and for thy will they were and have been created.
