¹⁵ I, who although I should have any just thing, would not answer, but would make supplication to my judge.

³⁸ Whatsoever curse or imprecation shall happen to any man of thy people Israel: when a man shall know the wound of his own heart, and shall spread forth his hands in this house; ³⁹ Then hear thou in heaven, in the place of thy dwelling, and forgive, and do so as to give to every one according to his ways, as thou shalt see his heart (for thou only knowest the heart of all the children of men)

⁸ Wherefore I will pray to the Lord, and address my speech to God:

⁵ Yet if thou wilt arise early to God, and wilt beseech the Almighty:

² I will say to God: Do not condemn me: tell me why thou judgest me so?

¹⁵ And if I be wicked, woe unto me: and if just, I shall not lift up my head, being filled with affliction and misery.

²⁷ Thou shalt pray to him, and he will hear thee, and thou shalt pay vows.

⁷ Let him propose equity against me, and let my judgment come to victory.

³¹ Seeing then I have spoken of God, I will not hinder thee in thy turn. ³² If I have erred, teach thou me: if I have spoken iniquity, I will add no more.

⁹ They shall come with weeping: and I will bring them back in mercy: and I will bring them through the torrents of waters in a right way, and they shall not stumble in it: for I am a father to Israel, and Ephraim is my firstborn.

³ And I set my face to the Lord, my God, to pray and make supplication with fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes.

¹⁸ Incline, O my God, thy ear, and hear: open thy eyes, and see our desolation, and the city upon which thy name is called: for it is not for our justifications that we present our prayers before thy face, but for the multitude of thy tender mercies.

⁴ For I am not conscious to myself of anything. Yet am I not hereby justified: but he that judgeth me is the Lord.

²³ Who, when he was reviled, did not revile: when he suffered, he threatened not, but delivered himself to him that judged him unjustly.
