² Hear, I beseech you, my words, and do penance.

⁷ This being told to Joatham, he went, and stood on the top of Mount Garizim: and lifting up his voice, he cried, and said: Hear me, ye men of Sichem, so may God hear you.

³ But yet I will speak to the Almighty, and I desire to reason with God. ⁴ Having first shewn that you are forgers of lies, and maintainers of perverse opinions.

¹¹ Is it a great matter that God should comfort thee? but thy wicked words hinder this.

² I have often heard such things as these: you are all troublesome comforters.

² How long will you throw out words? understand first, and so let us speak.

¹ Hear therefore, O Job, my speeches, and hearken to all my words.

³¹ Attend, Job, and hearken to me, and hold thy peace, whilst I speak. ³² But if thou hast any thing to say, answer me, speak: for I would have thee to appear just. ³³ And if thou have not, hear me: hold thy peace, and I will teach thee wisdom.

² Hear ye, wise men, my words, and ye learned, hearken to me:

² Why do you spend money for that which is not bread, and your labour for that which doth not satisfy you? Hearken diligently to me, and eat that which is good, and your soul shall be delighted in fatness.

¹ Therefore ought we more diligently to observe the things which we have heard lest perhaps we should let them slip.
