¹² Go ye to my place in Silo, where my name dwelt from the beginning: and see what I did to it for the wickedness of my people Israel:

⁵ But you shall come to the place, which the Lord your God shall choose out of all your tribes, to put his name there, and to dwell in it:

¹¹ In the place, which the Lord your God shall choose, that his name may be therein. Thither shall you bring all the things that I command you, holocausts, and victims, and tithes, and the firstfruits of your hands: and whatsoever is the choicest in the gifts which you shall vow to the Lord.

¹ And all the children of Israel assembled together in Silo, and there they set up the tabernacle of the testimony, and the land was subdued before them.

³¹ And the idol of Michas remained with them all the time that the house of God was in Silo. In those days there was no king in Israel.

³ And this man went up out of his city upon the appointed days, to adore and to offer sacrifice to the Lord of hosts in Silo. And the two sons of Heli, Ophni and Phinees, were there priests of the Lord.

³ And the people returned to the camp: and the ancients of Israel said: Why hath the Lord defeated us to day before the Philistines? Let us fetch unto us the ark of the covenant of the Lord from Silo, and let it come in the midst of us, that it may save us from the hand of our enemies. ⁴ So the people sent to Silo, and they brought from thence the ark of the covenant of the Lord of hosts, sitting upon the cherubims: and the two sons of Heli, Ophni and Phinees, were with the ark of the covenant of God.

¹⁰ So the Philistines fought, and Israel was overthrown, and every man fled to his own dwelling: and there was an exceeding great slaughter; for there fell of Israel thirty thousand footmen. ¹¹ And the ark of God was taken: and the two sons of Heli, Ophni and Phinees, were slain.

²² And she said: The glory is departed from Israel, because the ark of God was taken.

⁶⁰ And he put away the tabernacle of Silo, his tabernacle where he dwelt among men. ⁶¹ And he delivered their strength into captivity: and their beauty into the hands of the enemy. ⁶² And he shut up his people under the sword: and he despised his inheritance. ⁶³ Fire consumed their young men: and their maidens were not lamented. ⁶⁴ Their priests fell by the sword: and their widows did not mourn.

⁶ I will make this house like Silo: and I will make this city a curse to all the nations of the earth.
