⁵ Thus saith the Lord God that created the heavens, and stretched them out: that established the earth, and the things that spring out of it: that giveth breath to the people upon it, and spirit to them that tread thereon.

¹⁰ And God called the dry land, Earth; and the gathering together of the waters, he called Seas. And God saw that it was good. ¹¹ And he said: let the earth bring forth green herb, and such as may seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after its kind, which may have seed in itself upon the earth. And it was so done. ¹² And the earth brought forth the green herb, and such as yieldeth seed according to its kind, and the tree that beareth fruit, having seed each one according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.

²⁴ And God said: Let the earth bring forth the living creature in its kind, cattle and creeping things, and beasts of the earth, according to their kinds. And it was so done. ²⁵ And God made the beasts of the earth according to their kinds, and cattle, and every thing that creepeth on the earth after its kind. And God saw that it was good.

⁷ And the Lord God formed man of the slime of the earth: and breathed into his face the breath of life, and man became a living soul.

¹⁰ In whose hand is the soul of every living thing, and the spirit of all flesh of man.

³ As long as breath remaineth in me, and the spirit of God in my nostrils,

⁴ The spirit of God made me, and the breath of the Almighty gave me life.

¹⁴ If he turn his heart to him, he shall draw his spirit and breath unto himself.

¹ On the first day of the week, a psalm for David. The earth is the Lord's and the fulness thereof: the world, and all they that dwell therein. ² For he hath founded it upon the seas; and hath prepared it upon the rivers.

⁶ By the word of the Lord the heavens were established; and all the power of them by the spirit of his mouth:

That thou mayst bring bread out of the earth: ¹⁵ And that wine may cheer the heart of man. That he may make the face cheerful with oil: and that bread may strengthen man's heart. ¹⁶ The trees of the field shall be filled, and the cedars of Libanus which he hath planted: ¹⁷ There the sparrows shall make their nests. The highest of them is the house of the heron. ¹⁸ The high hills are a refuge for the harts, the rock for the irchins. ¹⁹ He hath made the moon for seasons: the sun knoweth his going down. ²⁰ Thou hast appointed darkness, and it is night: in it shall all the beasts of the woods go about: ²¹ The young lions roaring after their prey, and seeking their meat from God. ²² The sun ariseth, and they are gathered together: and they shall lie down in their dens. ²³ Man shall go forth to his work, and to his labour until the evening. ²⁴ How great are thy works, O Lord ? thou hast made all things in wisdom: the earth is filled with thy riches. ²⁵ So is this great sea, which stretcheth wide its arms: there are creeping things without number: Creatures little and great. ²⁶ There the ships shall go. This sea dragon which thou hast formed to play therein. ²⁷ All expect of thee that thou give them food in season. ²⁸ What thou givest to them they shall gather up: when thou openest thy hand, they shall all be filled with good. ²⁹ But if thou turnest away thy face, they shall be troubled: thou shalt take away their breath, and they shall fail, and shall return to their dust. ³⁰ Thou shalt send forth thy spirit, and they shall be created: and thou shalt renew the face of the earth. ³¹ May the glory of the Lord endure for ever: the Lord shall rejoice in his works. ³² He looketh upon the earth, and maketh it tremble: he troubleth the mountains, and they smoke. ³³ I will sing to the Lord as long as I live: I will sing praise to my God while I have my being. ³⁴ Let my speech be acceptable to him: but I will take delight in the Lord. ³⁵ Let sinners be consumed out of the earth, and the unjust, so that they be no more: O my soul, bless thou the Lord.

⁶ Who established the earth above the waters: for his mercy endureth for ever.

¹² Who hath measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, and weighed the heavens with his palm? who hath poised with three fingers the bulk of the earth, and weighed the mountains in scales, and the hills in a balance?

²² It is he that sitteth upon the globe of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as locusts: he that stretcheth out the heavens as nothing, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in.

²⁸ Knowest thou not, or hast thou not heard? the Lord is the everlasting God, who hath created the ends of the earth: he shall not faint, nor labour, neither is there any searching out of his wisdom.

²⁴ Thus saith the Lord thy redeemer, and thy maker, from the womb: I am the Lord, that make all things, that alone stretch out the heavens, that established the earth, and there is none with me.

¹² I made the earth: and I created man upon it: my hand stretched forth the heavens, and I have commanded all their host.

¹⁸ For thus saith the Lord that created the heavens, God himself that formed the earth, and made it, the very maker thereof: he did not create it in vain: he formed it to be inhabited. I am the Lord, and there is no other.

¹³ My hand also hath founded the earth, and my right hand hath measured the heavens: I shall call them, and they shall stand together.

¹² He that maketh the earth by his power, that prepareth the world by his wisdom, and stretcheth out the heavens by his knowledge.

¹⁷ Alas, alas, alas, O Lord God, behold thou hast made heaven and earth by thy great power, and thy stretched out arm: no word shall be hard to thee:

²³ But hast lifted thyself up against the Lord of heaven: and the vessels of his house have been brought before thee: and thou, and thy nobles, and thy wives, and thy concubines, have drunk wine in them: and thou hast praised the gods of silver, and of gold, and of brass, of iron, and of wood, and of stone, that neither see, nor hear, nor feel: but the God who hath thy breath in his hand, and all thy ways, thou hast not glorified.

⁶ He that buildeth his ascension in heaven, and hath founded his bundle upon the earth: who calleth the waters of the sea, and poureth them out upon the face of the earth, the Lord is his name.

¹ The burden of the word of the Lord upon Israel. Thus saith the Lord, who stretcheth forth the heavens, and layeth the foundations of the earth, and formeth the spirit of man in him:

²⁵ Neither is he served with men's hands, as though he needed any thing: seeing it is he who giveth to all life and breath and all things:

² In these days, hath spoken to us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the world.

¹⁰ And: Thou in the beginning, O Lord, didst found the earth: and the works of thy hands are the heavens. ¹¹ They shall perish: but thou shalt continue: and they shall all grow old as a garment. ¹² And as a vesture shalt thou change them, and they shalt be changed. But thou art the selfsame: and thy years shall not fail.
