²⁶ For if we sin wilfully after having the knowledge of the truth, there is now left no sacrifice for sins:

² Say to the children of Israel: The soul that sinneth through ignorance, and doth any thing concerning any of the commandments of the Lord, which he commanded not to be done:

¹³ And if all the multitude of Israel shall be ignorant, and through ignorance shall do that which is against the commandment of the Lord,

²⁸ And the priest shall pray for him, because he sinned ignorantly before the Lord: and he shall obtain his pardon, and it shall be forgiven him. ²⁹ The same law shall be for all that sin by ignorance, whether they be natives or strangers. ³⁰ But the soul that committeth any thing through pride, whether he be born in the land or a stranger (because he hath been rebellious against the Lord) shall be cut off from among his people: ³¹ For he hath contemned the word of the Lord, and made void his precept: therefore shall he be destroyed, and shall bear his iniquity.

¹² But he that will be proud, and refuse to obey the commandment of the priest, who ministereth at that time to the Lord thy God, and the decree of the judge, that man shall die, and thou shalt take away the evil from Israel:

^{12 (19:13)} Who can understand sins? from my secret ones cleanse me, O Lord: ^{13 (19:14)} And from those of others spare thy servant. If they shall have no dominion over me, then shall I be without spot: and I shall be cleansed form the greatest sin.

²² Thou also, his son, O Baltasar, hast not humbled thy heart, whereas thou knewest all these things: ²³ But hast lifted thyself up against the Lord of heaven: and the vessels of his house have been brought before thee: and thou, and thy nobles, and thy wives, and thy concubines, have drunk wine in them: and thou hast praised the gods of silver, and of gold, and of brass, of iron, and of wood, and of stone, that neither see, nor hear, nor feel: but the God who hath thy breath in his hand, and all thy ways, thou hast not glorified.

³¹ Therefore I say to you: Every sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven men, but the blasphemy of the Spirit shall not be forgiven. ³² And whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but he that shall speak against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him neither in this world, nor in the world to come.

⁴³ And when an unclean spirit is gone out of a man he walketh through dry places seeking rest, and findeth none. ⁴⁴ Then he saith: I will return into my house from whence I came out. And coming he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished. ⁴⁵ Then he goeth, and taketh with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is made worse than the first. So shall it be also to this wicked generation.

⁴⁷ And that servant, who knew the will of his lord and prepared not himself and did not according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes.

⁴¹ Jesus said to them: If you were blind, you should not have sin: but now you say: We see. Your sin remaineth.

¹⁷ If you know these things, you shall be blessed if you do them.

²² If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not have sin: but now they have no excuse for their sin. ²³ He that hateth me hateth my Father also. ²⁴ If I had not done among them the works that no other man hath done, they would not have sin: but now they have both seen and hated both me and my Father.

¹⁰ And in all seduction of iniquity to them that perish: because they receive not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

¹³ Who before was a blasphemer and a persecutor and contumelious. But I obtained the mercy of God, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief.

⁴ For it is impossible for those who were once illuminated, have tasted also the heavenly gift and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, ⁵ Have moreover tasted the good word of God and the powers of the world to come, ⁶ And are fallen away: to be renewed again to penance, crucifying again to themselves the Son of God and making him a mockery.

¹⁷ To him therefore who knoweth to do good and doth it not, to him it is sin.

²⁰ For if, flying from the pollutions of the world, through the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they be again entangled in them and overcome: their latter state is become unto them worse than the former. ²¹ For it had been better for them not to have known the way of justice than, after they have known it, to turn back from that holy commandment which was delivered to them. ²² For, that of the true proverb has happened to them: The dog is returned to his vomit; and: The sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.

¹⁶ He that knoweth his brother to sin a sin which is not to death, let him ask: and life shall be given to him who sinneth not to death. There is a sin unto death. For that I say not that any man ask.
