²⁹ And God said: Behold I have given you every herb bearing seed upon the earth, and all trees that have in themselves seed of their own kind, to be your meat:

¹⁶ And he commanded him, saying: Of every tree of paradise thou shalt eat:

³ And every thing that moveth, and liveth shall be meat for you: even as the green herbs have I delivered them all to you:

³¹ For by these he judgeth people, and giveth food to many mortals.

¹⁴ Bringing forth grass for cattle, and herb for the service of men. That thou mayst bring bread out of the earth: ¹⁵ And that wine may cheer the heart of man. That he may make the face cheerful with oil: and that bread may strengthen man's heart.

²⁷ All expect of thee that thou give them food in season. ²⁸ What thou givest to them they shall gather up: when thou openest thy hand, they shall all be filled with good.

⁵ He hath given food to them that fear him. He will be mindful for ever of his covenant:

¹⁶ The heaven of heaven is the Lord's: but the earth he has given to the children of men.

²⁵ Who giveth food to all flesh: for his mercy endureth for ever.

¹⁵ The eyes of all hope in thee, O Lord: and thou givest them meat in due season. ¹⁶ Thou openest thy hand, and fillest with blessing every living creature.

⁷ Who keepeth truth for ever: who executeth judgment for them that suffer wrong: who giveth food to the hungry. The Lord looseth them that are fettered:

⁹ Who giveth to beasts their food: and to the young ravens that call upon him.

¹⁶ He shall dwell on high, the fortifications of rocks shall be his highness: bread is given him, his waters are sure.

⁸ And she did not know that I gave her corn, and wine, and oil, and multiplied her silver, and gold, which they have used in the service of Baal.

¹¹ Give us this day our supersubstantial bread.

²⁵ Therefore I say to you, be not solicitous for your life, what you shall eat, nor for your body, what you shall put on. Is not the life more than the meat: and the body more than the raiment? ²⁶ Behold the birds of the air, for they neither sow, nor do they reap, nor gather into barns: and your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are not you of much more value than they?

²⁴ God, who made the world and all things therein, he being Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands. ²⁵ Neither is he served with men's hands, as though he needed any thing: seeing it is he who giveth to all life and breath and all things:

²⁸ For in him we live and move and are: as some also of your own poets said: For we are also his offspring.

¹⁷ Charge the rich of this world not to be highminded nor to trust in the uncertainty of riches, but in the living God (who giveth us abundantly all things to enjoy)
