¹¹ And the king of the Assyrians carried away Israel into Assyria, and placed them in Hala, and in Habor, by the rivers of Gozan, in the cities of the Medes.

⁶ And in the ninth year of Osee, the king of the Assyrians took Samaria, and carried Israel away to Assyria: and he placed them in Hala, and Habor, by the river of Gozan, in the cities of the Medes.

¹¹ Behold, thou hast heard what the kings of the Assyrians have done to all countries, how they have laid them waste: and canst thou alone be delivered?

²⁶ And the God of Israel stirred up the spirit of Phul king of the Assyrians. and the spirit of Thelgathphalnasar king of Assur: and he carried away Ruben, and Gad, and the half tribe of Manasses, and brought them to Lahela, and to Habor, and to Ara, and to the river of Gozan, unto this day.

⁸ But the head of Syria is Damascus, and the head of Damascus is Rasin: and within threescore and five years, Ephraim shall cease to be a people:

⁴ For before the child know to call his father and his mother, the strength of Damascus, and the spoils of Samaria shall be taken away before the king of the Assyrians.

⁹ And all the people of Ephraim shall know, and the inhabitants of Samaria that say in the pride and haughtiness of their heart: ¹⁰ The bricks are fallen down, but we will build with square stones: they have cut down the sycamores, but we will change them for cedars. ¹¹ And the Lord shall set up the enemies of Rasin over him, and shall bring on his enemies in a crowd: ¹² The Syrians from the east, and, the Philistines from the west: and they shall devour Israel with open mouth. For all this his indignation is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still. ¹³ And the people are not returned to him who hath struck them, and have not sought after the Lord of hosts. ¹⁴ And the Lord shall destroy out of Israel the head and the tail, him that bendeth down, and him that holdeth back, in one day. ¹⁵ The aged and honourable, he is the head: and the prophet that teacheth lies, he is the tail. ¹⁶ And they that call this people blessed, shall cause them to err: and they that are called blessed, shall be thrown down, headlong. ¹⁷ Therefore the Lord shall have no joy in their young men: neither shall he have mercy on their fatherless, and widows: for every one is a hypocrite and wicked, and every mouth hath spoken folly. For all this his indignation is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still. ¹⁸ For wickedness is kindled as a fire, it shall devour the brier and the thorn: and shall kindle in the thicket of the forest, and it shall be wrapped up in smoke ascending on high. ¹⁹ By the wrath of the Lord of hosts the land is troubled, and the people shall be as fuel for the fire: no man shall spare his brother. ²⁰ And he shall turn to the right hand, and shall be hungry: and shall eat on the left hand, and shall not be filled: every one shall eat the flesh of his own arm: Manasses Ephraim, and Ephraim Manasses, and they together shall be against Juda. ²¹ After all these things his indignation is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.

⁵ Woe to the Assyrian, he is the rod and the staff of my anger, and my indignation is in their hands.

¹¹ Shall I not, as I have done to Samaria and her idols, so do to Jerusalem and her idols?

¹² Have the gods of the nations delivered them whom my fathers have destroyed, Gozam, and Haram, and Reseph, and the children of Eden, that were in Thalassar?

⁸ Israel is swallowed up: now is he become among the nations like an unclean vessel. ⁹ For they are gone up to Assyria, a wild ass alone by himself: Ephraim hath given gifts to his lovers.

³ They shall not dwell in the Lord's land: Ephraim is returned to Egypt, and hath eaten unclean things among the Assyrians.

¹ Hear ye this word, which I take up concerning you for a lamentation. The house of Israel is fallen, and it shall rise no more. ² The virgin of Israel is cast down upon her land, there is none to raise her up. ³ For thus saith the Lord God: The city, out of which came forth a thousand, there shall be left in it a hundred: and out of which there came a hundred, there shall be left in it ten, in the house of Israel.

⁶ Seek ye the Lord, and live: lest the house of Joseph be burnt with fire, and it shall devour, and there shall be none to quench Bethel.

²⁵ Did you offer victims and sacrifices to me in the desert for forty years, O house of Israel? ²⁶ But you carried a tabernacle for your Moloch, and the image of your idols, the star of your god, which you made to yourselves. ²⁷ And I will cause you to go into captivity beyond Damascus, saith the Lord, the God of hosts is his name.

⁴³ And you took unto you the tabernacle of Moloch and the star of your god Rempham, figures which you made to adore them. And I will carry you away beyond Babylon.
