⁴ and [on coming] from the market-place, unless they are washed, they do not eat; and there are many other things which they have received to hold, the washing of cups and vessels, and brazen utensils, and couches),

³⁰ If I washed myself with snow-water, and cleansed my hands in purity, ³¹ Then wouldest thou plunge me in the ditch, and mine own clothes would abhor me.

⁶ I will wash my hands in innocency, and will encompass thine altar, O Jehovah,

¹⁶ Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; -- cease to do evil,

¹⁴ Wash thy heart, Jerusalem, from wickedness, that thou mayest be saved. How long shall thy vain thoughts lodge within thee?

²⁵ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the dish, but within they are full of rapine and intemperance.

²⁴ And Pilate, seeing that it availed nothing, but that rather a tumult was arising, having taken water, washed his hands before the crowd, saying, I am guiltless of the blood of this righteous one: see *ye* [to it].

³⁸ But the Pharisee seeing [it] wondered that he had not first washed before dinner. ³⁹ But the Lord said to him, Now do ye Pharisees cleanse the outside of the cup and of the dish, but your inward [parts] are full of plunder and wickedness.

⁶ Now there were standing there six stone water-vessels, according to the purification of the Jews, holding two or three measures each.

⁷ But if we walk in the light as *he* is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanses us from all sin.
