⁷ Now therfore is there vtterly a faute amoge you, that ye go to lawe one with another. Why rather suffre ye not wronge? Why suffre ye not youre selues rather to be defrauded?

⁵ The shalt thou vnderstonde ye feare of the LORDE, and fynde ye knowlege of God.

⁸ he kepeth them in ye right path, and preserueth ye waye of his sayntes. ⁹ Then shalt thou vnderstonde rightuousnesse, iudgment and equite, yee and euery good path. ¹⁰ Yf wy?dome entre in to thine herte, and yi soule delyte in knowlege:

²² Saye not thou: I will recompence euell, but put yi trust in the LORDE, & he shal defende ye.

² Their herte is deuyded, therfore wil they be destroyed. The LORDE shall breake downe their ymages, he shal destroye their aulters.

³⁹ But I saye vnto you: that ye resist not euell. But whosoeuer geueth the a blowe on thy right cheke, turne to him the other also. ⁴⁰ And yf eny man will sue the at the lawe, & take awaye thy coate, let him haue thy cloake also. ⁴¹ And who so compelleth the to go a myle, go wt hym twayne.

²⁹ And who so smyteth the on the one cheke, offre him ye other also. And who so taketh awaye thy cloake, forbyd him not yi cote also.

¹⁷ Recompese vnto no man euell for euell. Prouyde honestie afore hade towarde euery ma. ¹⁸ Yf it be possible (as moch as in you is) haue peace with all men. ¹⁹ Dearly beloued, auenge not youre selues, but geue rowme vnto the wrath off God. For it is wrytte: Vengeaunce is myne, and I wil rewarde, sayeth ye LORDE.

¹⁵ Se that none recompence euell for euell vnto eny man: but euer folowe that which is good, both amoge youre selues and to all men.

¹ From whence commeth warre and fightynge amonge you: come they not here hence? euen of yor volupteousnesses that rayne in youre mebres? ² Ye lust, and haue not. Ye envie and haue indignacion, and can not obtayne. Ye fight & warre, and haue not, because ye axe not. ³ Ye axe & receaue not because ye axe amysse: eue to cosume it vpo yor voluptuousnes.

¹⁹ For that is grace, yf a man for conscience towarde God endure grefe, and suffre wronge. ²⁰ For what prayse is it, yf wha ye be buffeted for yor fautes, ye take it paciently? But yf whan ye do well, ye suffre wronge, and take it paciently, that is grace with God. ²¹ For here vnto are ye called, for so moch as Christ also suffred for vs, leauynge vs an ensample, that ye shulde folowe his fotesteppes, ²² which dyd no synne, nether was there gyle founde in his mouth: ²³ which whan he was reuyled, reuyled not agayne: wha he suffred, he threatened not: but commytted the cause vnto him, that iudgeth righteously:

⁹ Recopence not euell for euell, nether rebuke for rebuke: but cotrary wyse, blesse: and knowe that ye are called therto, euen yt ye shulde be heyres of ye blessynge.
