¹ Now Peter and John were going up to the temple at the hour of prayer, the ninth hour.

¹ After six days Jesus took with him Peter, James, and John his brother, and led them up a high mountain by themselves.

³⁷ He took Peter and the two sons of Zebedee along with him, and he began to be sorrowful and troubled.

¹⁰ And the whole multitude of the people were praying outside at the hour of incense.

⁸ So he sent Peter and John, saying, "Go and prepare the Passover for us, that we may eat."

⁴⁴ for the sun was darkened; and the curtain of the temple was torn in two. ⁴⁵ And Jesus, crying out with a loud voice, said, "Father, into your hands I commit my spirit." And having said this, he breathed his last. ⁴⁶ Now when the centurion saw what had happened, he praised God, and said, "Certainly this was a righteous man!"

⁵³ and were continually in the temple praising God.

²³ One of his disciples, whom Jesus loved, was leaning close to the breast of Jesus. ²⁴ Simon Peter motioned to him and said, "Ask who it is of whom he speaks." ²⁵ Then, leaning back on the breast of Jesus, he said to him, "Lord, who is it?"

² So she ran, and came to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one whom Jesus loved, and said to them, "They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid him." ³ Peter therefore went out with the other disciple, and they were going toward the tomb. ⁴ They both ran, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first. ⁵ And stooping to look in, he saw the linen cloths lying there, but he did not go in. ⁶ Then Simon Peter came, following him, and went into the tomb; and he saw the linen cloths lying there, ⁷ and the napkin that had been around his head, not lying with the linen cloths, but folded up in a place by itself. ⁸ Then the other disciple, who reached the tomb first, also went in; and he saw and believed. ⁹ For as yet they did not know the Scripture, that he must rise from the dead.

⁷ Then that disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, "It is the Lord!" Now when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on his outer garment (for he had removed it), and threw himself into the sea.

¹⁸ Truly, truly, I say to you, when you were younger, you girded yourself and walked where you wished; but when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and another will gird you and carry you where you do not wish to go." ¹⁹ This he said to show by what death he would glorify God. And after this he said to him, "Follow me." ²⁰ Peter turned and saw following them the disciple whom Jesus loved, who had leaned on his breast at the supper and had said, "Lord, who is the one who is going to betray you?" ²¹ When Peter saw him, he said to Jesus, "Lord, what about this man?" ²² Jesus said to him, "If I want him to remain until I come, what is that to you? You follow me."

⁴⁶ And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they ate together with glad and sincere hearts,

¹³ Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated, common men, they were astonished; and they recognized that they had been with Jesus.

²⁵ And someone came and told them, "Look! The men whom you put in prison are standing in the temple and teaching the people."

¹⁴ Now when the apostles in Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent them Peter and John,

³ About the ninth hour of the day he clearly saw in a vision an angel of God who had just come in and said to him, "Cornelius!"

³⁰ Cornelius said, "Four days ago to this hour, I was praying in my house during the ninth hour; and behold, a man stood before me in shining garments,

⁹ and when they perceived the grace that was given to me, James and Cephas and John, who were reputed to be pillars, gave to me and Barnabas the right hand of fellowship, that we should go to the Gentiles and they to the circumcised.
