²⁰ Naomi replied to her daughter-in-law, Blessed be he by Yahweh, Who has not forsaken His benignity toward the living and the dead. And Naomi explained to her, This man is a near relative of ours; he is one of our kinsmen redeemers.

²⁵ In case your brother is reduced to poverty and sells use of some of his holding, then his redeemer, one near to him, will come and redeem his brother's sold land-use.

⁵ In case brothers dwell together, and one of them dies, and he has no son, the wife of the dead one shall not come to the outside, to an alien man. Her brother-in-law shall come to her, and he will take her to himself as his wife and perform the levirate for her. ⁶ Then it will come to be:the firstborn whom she bears shall carry on the name of his father's dead brother so that his name may not be wiped out from Israel. ⁷ But should the man not be inclined to take his sister-in-law, then his sister-in-law will go up to the elders at the gate and say:My brother-in-law refuses to raise up a name for his brother in Israel; he is not willing to perform the levirate for me.

⁹ He asked, Who are you? And she replied, I am Ruth, your maidservant. Spread the hem of your garment over your maidservant, since you are a kinsman redeemer. ¹⁰ At that he said, Blessed be you by Yahweh, my daughter! You have shown your latter kindness to be better than the first, in not going at all after the men in their prime, whether poor or rich.

⁶ The kinsman redeemer replied, I am not able to redeem it for myself, lest I impair my own allotment. As for you, redeem my redemption right for yourself, for I am not able to redeem it.

¹⁴ Then the women said to Naomi, Blessed be Yahweh Who has not let your redeemer cease today; may his name be proclaimed in Israel!"

⁵ And David sends messengers unto the men of Jabesh-Gilead, and said unto them, `Blessed [are] you of Yahweh, in that you have done this kindness with your lord, with Saul, that you bury him.

¹ And David said, `Is there yet any left to the house of Saul, and I do with him kindness because of Jonathan?.

²⁵ Yet as for me, I know my Redeemer is living, And after this He shall arise on the soil;"

¹² For I made a way of escape for the humble who implored, And the orphan and him who had no helper. ¹³ The blessing of the one perishing came on me, And I caused the heart of the widow to jubilate.

¹⁷ The close associate keeps friendship at all times, And a brother is born to share distress."

¹⁰ Now I rejoiced in the Lord greatly that at length, for once your disposition toward me blossomed, to which you were disposed also, yet you lacked occasion."

¹⁶ May the Lord grant mercy to the household of Onesiphorus, for he often refreshes me and was not ashamed of my chain, ¹⁷ but, coming to be in Rome, he seeks me diligently and found me." ¹⁸ May the Lord grant to him to be finding mercy from the Lord in that day! And how much he serves in Ephesus you know quite well.
