¹⁷ They have cried there:Pharaoh king of Egypt [is] a desolation, Passed by has the appointed time."

⁹ The enemy said: I shall pursue! I shall overtake! I shall apportion the loot! My soul's desire shall be fulfilled on them! I shall unsheathe my sword! My hand shall evict them!

¹⁰ And Ben-Hadad sends unto him, and said, `Thus do the elohims to me, and thus do they add, if the dust of Samaria suffice for handfuls for all the people who [are] at my feet..

¹⁸ And he said, `If for peace they have come out--catch them alive; and if for battle they have come out--alive catch them..

¹¹ Yea! Foolish are the chiefs of Zoan, the wise counselors of Pharaoh give brutish counsel. How will you say to Pharaoh, "I am a son of the wise, a son of former kings"? ¹² Whereat, indeed, are your wise? And, pray, will they tell to you, and will they know what Yahweh of hosts counsels over Egypt? ¹³ Foolish are the chiefs of Zoan! Lured away are the chiefs of Noph! They lead Egypt astray, the corner stone of its tribes." ¹⁴ Yahweh blends within it a depraved spirit. They lead Egypt astray in its every deed, as a drunkard strays in his vomit." ¹⁵ And not coming to Egypt is work, which head or tail, frond or rush shall do." ¹⁶ In that day Egypt shall become as wives, and tremble, and be afraid in view of the wave of the hand of Yahweh of hosts, which He will wave over it."

³ Yet Egyptians are human and not the El, and their horses are flesh, and not spirit. When Yahweh is stretching out His hand, then the helper falters; and he who is helped falls. And, together, all of them will be finished."

²⁷ And their dwellers are shorthanded; they are dismayed and ashamed. They become herbage of the field and green verdure, grass of the housetops, and blasted before raised." ²⁸ Your rising and your sitting and your faring forth and your coming in I know, and your perturbance against Me." ²⁹ Because your perturbance against Me and your tumult ascends in My ears, so I will place My gaff in your nose, and My bit in your lips, and I will reverse you by the way in which you came."

³ Speak, and you have said:Thus said the Lord Yahweh:Lo, I [am] against you, Pharaoh king of Egypt! The great dragon that is crouching in the midst of his floods, Who has said, My flood [is] my own, And I--I have made it [for] myself."

¹⁸ Unto whom have you been thus like, In honor and in greatness among the trees of Eden, And you have been brought down with the trees of Eden, Unto the earth--the lower part, In the midst of the uncircumcised you lie, With the pierced of the sword? It [is] Pharaoh, and all his multitude, An affirmation of the Lord Yahweh!'"
