³ And all the elders of Israel come in unto the king to Hebron, and David makes with them a covenant in Hebron before Yahweh, and they anoint David for king over Israel, according to the word of Yahweh by the hand of Samuel.

¹² And he sends, and brings him in, and he [is] ruddy, with beauty of eyes, and of good appearance; and Yahweh said, `Rise, anoint him, for this [is] he.. ¹³ And Samuel takes the horn of oil, and anoints him in the midst of his brethren, and prosper over David does the Spirit of Yahweh from that day and onwards; and Samuel rises and goes to Ramath.

¹⁸ And they make a covenant both of them before Yahweh; and David abides in the forest, and Jonathan has gone to his house.

¹⁷ And Yahweh does for Himself as He has spoken by my hand, and Yahweh rends the kingdom out of your hand, and gives it to your neighbor--to David.

⁴ And the men of Judah come, and anoint there David for king over the house of Judah; and they declare to David, saying, `The men of Jabesh-Gilead [are] they who buried Saul..

¹⁷ And Jehoiada makes the covenant between Yahweh and the king and the people, to be for a people to Yahweh, and between the king and the people.

³⁰ And his servants cause him to ride dying from Megiddo, and bring him in to Jerusalem, and bury him in his own grave, and the people of the land take Jehoahaz son of Josiah, and anoint him, and cause him to reign instead of his father.

³ and all the assembly make a covenant in the house of Elohim with the king, and he said to them, `Lo, the son of the king does reign, as Yahweh spoke concerning the sons of David.
