⁴⁰ For I will lift up My hand to heaven, and swear by My right hand, and I will say, I live forever.

⁷ Whose mouth is full of cursing, and bitterness, and fraud: under his tongue are trouble and pain.

² Everyone has spoken vanity to his neighbor: their lips are deceitful, they have spoken with a double heart.

⁶ And if he came to see me, his heart spoke vainly; he gathered iniquity to himself; he went forth and spoke in like manner.

³ Sinners have gone astray from the womb; they go astray from the belly; they speak lies.

⁴ They only took counsel to set at nought my honor. I ran in thirst; with their mouth they blessed, but with their heart they cursed. Pause.

²⁶ So He lifted up His hand against them, to cast them down in the wilderness;

² for the mouth of the sinner and the mouth of the crafty have been opened against me; they have spoken against me with a crafty tongue. ³ And they have compassed me with words of hatred; and fought against me without a cause.

²⁰ Know that their heart is ashes, and they err, and no one is able to deliver his soul; see, you will not say, There is a lie in my right hand.

⁵ They have hatched vipers' eggs, and weave a spider's web; and he that is going to eat of their eggs, having crushed an addled egg, has found also in it a basilisk. ⁶ Their web shall not become a garment, nor shall they at all clothe themselves with their works; for their works are works of iniquity. ⁷ And their feet run to wickedness, and are swift to shed blood; their thoughts also are thoughts of murder; destruction and misery are in their ways;

³⁰ And if your right hand causes you to stumble, cut it off and cast it from you; for it is better for you that one of your members be lost, than for your whole body to be cast into hell.

¹⁶ And he causes all, small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, that they should receive marks on their right hand, or on their foreheads, ¹⁷ and that no one may buy or sell except he that has the mark, the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
