⁴² They shall cry, and there shall be no helper; they shall cry to the Lord, but He hearkens not to them.

⁶ So Saul inquired of the Lord, and the Lord answered him not by dreams, nor by manifestations, nor by prophets.

⁹ Will God hear his prayer? Or when distress has come upon him,

²⁸ For it shall be that when you call upon me, I will not listen to you: wicked men shall seek me, but shall not find me.

¹⁵ When you stretch forth your hands, I will turn away My eyes from you; and though you make many supplications, I will not hearken to you; for your hands are full of blood.

³ Son of man, speak to the elders of the house of Israel, and you shall say to them, Thus says the Lord: Have you come to inquire of Me? As I live, I will not be inquired of by you, says the Lord.

⁴ thus they shall cry to the Lord, but He shall not hearken to them; and He shall turn away His face from them at that time, because they have done wickedly in their practices against themselves.

²² Many will say to Me in that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name we cast out demons, and in Your name we did many mighty works?' ²³ "And then I will confess to them, 'I never knew you! Depart from Me, you who work iniquity!'

²⁵ When once the Master of the house has risen up and shuts the door, and you begin to stand outside and to knock at the door, saying, 'Lord, Lord, open for us,' and answering He will say to you, 'I do not know you, where you are from.' ²⁶ Then you will begin to say, 'We ate and drank in Your presence, and You taught in our streets.'
