⁶ His branches shall spread, and his beauty shall be as the olive-tree, and his smell as Lebanon.

²⁷ And he came near, and kissed him: and he smelled the smell of his raiment, and blessed him, and said,
See, the smell of my son
Is as the smell of a field which Jehovah hath blessed:

⁸ But as for me, I am like a green olive-tree in the house of God:
I trust in the lovingkindness of God for ever and ever.

⁹ Thou preparedst [room] before it,
And it took deep root, and filled the land. ¹⁰ The mountains were covered with the shadow of it,
And the boughs thereof were [like] cedars of God. ¹¹ It sent out its branches unto the sea,
And its shoots unto the River.

³ Thy wife shall be as a fruitful vine,
In the innermost parts of thy house;
Thy children like olive plants,
Round about thy table.

¹¹ Thy lips, O [my] bride, drop [as] the honeycomb:
Honey and milk are under thy tongue;
And the smell of thy garments is like the smell of Lebanon. ¹² A garden shut up is my sister, [my] bride;
A spring shut up, a fountain sealed. ¹³ Thy shoots are an orchard of pomegranates, with precious fruits;
Henna with spikenard plants, ¹⁴ Spikenard and saffron,
Calamus and cinnamon, with all trees of frankincense;
Myrrh and aloes, with all the chief spices. ¹⁵ [Thou art] a fountain of gardens,
A well of living waters,
And flowing streams from Lebanon.

¹⁶ Jehovah called thy name, A green olive-tree, fair with goodly fruit: with the noise of a great tumult he hath kindled fire upon it, and the branches of it are broken.

⁵ He took also of the seed of the land, and planted it in a fruitful soil; he placed it beside many waters; he set it as a willow-tree. ⁶ And it grew, and became a spreading vine of low stature, whose branches turned toward him, and the roots thereof were under him: so it became a vine, and brought forth branches, and shot forth sprigs.
⁷ There was also another great eagle with great wings and many feathers: and, behold, this vine did bend its roots toward him, and shot forth its branches toward him, from the beds of its plantation, that he might water it. ⁸ It was planted in a good soil by many waters, that it might bring forth branches, and that it might bear fruit, that it might be a goodly vine.

³ Behold, the Assyrian was a cedar in Lebanon with fair branches, and with a forest-like shade, and of high stature; and its top was among the thick boughs. ⁴ The waters nourished it, the deep made it to grow: the rivers thereof ran round about its plantation; and it sent out its channels unto all the trees of the field. ⁵ Therefore its stature was exalted above all the trees of the field; and its boughs were multiplied, and its branches became long by reason of many waters, when it shot [them] forth. ⁶ All the birds of the heavens made their nests in its boughs; and under its branches did all the beasts of the field bring forth their young; and under its shadow dwelt all great nations. ⁷ Thus was it fair in its greatness, in the length of its branches; for its root was by many waters. ⁸ The cedars in the garden of God could not hide it; the fir-trees were not like its boughs, and the plane-trees were not as its branches; nor was any tree in the garden of God like unto it in its beauty. ⁹ I made it fair by the multitude of its branches, so that all the trees of Eden, that were in the garden of God, envied it.
¹⁰ Therefore thus said the Lord Jehovah: Because thou art exalted in stature, and he hath set his top among the thick boughs, and his heart is lifted up in his height;

¹⁰ Thus were the visions of my head upon my bed: I saw, and, behold, a tree in the midst of the earth; and the height thereof was great. ¹¹ The tree grew, and was strong, and the height thereof reached unto heaven, and the sight thereof to the end of all the earth. ¹² The leaves thereof were fair, and the fruit thereof much, and in it was food for all: the beasts of the field had shadow under it, and the birds of the heavens dwelt in the branches thereof, and all flesh was fed from it. ¹³ I saw in the visions of my head upon my bed, and, behold, a watcher and a holy one came down from heaven. ¹⁴ He cried aloud, and said thus, Hew down the tree, and cut off its branches, shake off its leaves, and scatter its fruit: let the beasts get away from under it, and the fowls from its branches. ¹⁵ Nevertheless leave the stump of its roots in the earth, even with a band of iron and brass, in the tender grass of the field; and let it be wet with the dew of heaven: and let his portion be with the beasts in the grass of the earth:

³¹ Another parable set he before them, saying, { The kingdom of heaven is like unto a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and sowed in his field:

¹ { I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.

¹⁶ And if the firstfruit is holy, so is the lump: and if the root is holy, so are the branches. ¹⁷ But if some of the branches were broken off, and thou, being a wild olive, wast grafted in among them, and didst become partaker with them of the root of the fatness of the olive tree; ¹⁸ glory not over the branches: but if thou gloriest, it is not thou that bearest the root, but the root thee. ¹⁹ Thou wilt say then, Branches were broken off, that I might be grafted in. ²⁰ Well; by their unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by thy faith. Be not highminded, but fear: ²¹ for if God spared not the natural branches, neither will he spare thee. ²² Behold then the goodness and severity of God: toward them that fell, severity; but toward thee, God's goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off. ²³ And they also, if they continue not in their unbelief, shall be grafted in: for God is able to graft them in again. ²⁴ For if thou wast cut out of that which is by nature a wild olive tree, and wast grafted contrary to nature into a good olive tree; how much more shall these, which are the natural [branches], be grafted into their own olive tree?

¹⁴ But thanks be unto God, who always leadeth us in triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest through us the savor of his knowledge in every place. ¹⁵ For we are a sweet savor of Christ unto God, in them that are saved, and in them that perish;

¹⁸ But I have all things, and abound: I am filled, having received from Epaphroditus the things [that came] from you, an odor of a sweet smell, a sacrifice acceptable, well-pleasing to God.
