¹⁵ Hereby you shall be proved: By the life of Pharaoh you shall not go forth hence, except your youngest brother come here. ¹⁶ Send one of you, and let him fetch your brother, and you shall be kept in prison, that your words may be proved, whether there be any truth in you: or else by the life of Pharaoh surely you are spies.

²⁰ But bring your youngest brother to me; so shall your words be verified, and you shall not die. And they did so.

³² And they set on for him by himself, and for them by themselves, and for the Egyptians, which did eat with him, by themselves: because the Egyptians might not eat bread with the Hebrews; for that is an abomination to the Egyptians.

¹⁶ Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the middle of wolves: be you therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.

⁸ I speak not by commandment, but by occasion of the forwardness of others, and to prove the sincerity of your love.
