¹ The burden of Nineveh. The book of the vision of Nahum the Elkoshite.

¹¹ He went forth out of that land into Assyria, and built Nineveh, and Rehoboth-ir, and Calah,

¹ The burden of Babylon, which Isaiah the son of Amoz saw.

²⁸ In the year that king Ahaz died was this burden.

¹ The burden of Moab. For in a night Ar of Moab is laid waste, and brought to nothing. For in a night Kir of Moab is laid waste, and brought to nothing.

¹ The burden of Egypt. Behold, LORD rides upon a swift cloud, and comes to Egypt. And the idols of Egypt shall tremble at his presence, and the heart of Egypt shall melt in the midst of it.

For ye have perverted the words of the living God, of LORD of hosts our God. ³⁷ Thus thou shall say to the prophet: What has LORD answered thee? and, What has LORD spoken?

² Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry against it, for their wickedness has come up before me.

³ So Jonah arose, and went to Nineveh, according to the word of LORD. Now Nineveh was an exceedingly great city, of three days' journey. ⁴ And Jonah began to enter into the city a day's journey. And he cried out, and said, Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown.

⁸ But Nineveh has been from of old like a pool of water. Yet they flee away. Stand, stand, they cry, but none looks back.

¹³ And he will stretch out his hand against the north, and destroy Assyria, and will make Nineveh a desolation, and dry like the wilderness.

¹ The burden of the word of LORD upon the land of Hadrach, and Damascus its resting-place (for the eye of man and of all the tribes of Israel is toward LORD),
