¹ Now it came to pass after the death of Moses the servant of LORD, that LORD spoke to Joshua the son of Nun, Moses' minister, saying,

⁹ And Moses said to Joshua, Choose us out men, and go out, fight with Amalek. Tomorrow I will stand on the top of the hill with the rod of God in my hand. ¹⁰ So Joshua did as Moses had said to him, and fought with Amalek. And Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill. ¹¹ And it came to pass, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed, and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed. ¹² But Moses' hands were heavy. And they took a stone, and put it under him, and he sat on it. and Aaron and Hur held up his hands, the one on the one side, and the other on the other side. And his hands were steady until the going down of the sun. ¹³ And Joshua weakened Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword.

¹³ And Moses rose up, and Joshua his minister, and Moses went up onto the mount of God.

²⁸ And Joshua the son of Nun, the minister of Moses, one of his chosen men, answered and said, My lord Moses, forbid them.

⁷ My servant Moses is not so. He is faithful in all my house.

⁸ of the tribe of Ephraim, Hoshea the son of Nun;

¹⁶ These are the names of the men that Moses sent to spy out the land. And Moses called Hoshea the son of Nun Joshua.

³⁸ Joshua the son of Nun, who stands before thee, he shall go in there. Encourage thou him, for he shall cause Israel to inherit it.

³ LORD thy God, he will go over before thee. He will destroy these nations from before thee, and thou shall dispossess them. Joshua, he shall go over before thee, as LORD has spoken.

²³ And he gave Joshua the son of Nun a command, and said, Be strong and of good courage, for thou shall bring the sons of Israel into the land which I swore to them, and I will be with thee.

¹ And this is the blessing with which Moses the man of God blessed the sons of Israel before his death.

⁵ So Moses the servant of LORD died there in the land of Moab, according to the word of LORD.

⁹ And Joshua the son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom, for Moses had laid his hands upon him. And the sons of Israel hearkened to him, and did as LORD commanded Moses.

⁶ Moses the servant of LORD and the sons of Israel smote them. And Moses the servant of LORD gave it for a possession to the Reubenites, and the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh.

¹⁶ And thou shall anoint Jehu the son of Nimshi to be king over Israel. And thou shall anoint Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abel-meholah to be prophet in thy place.

¹¹ But Jehoshaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of LORD, that we may inquire of LORD by him? And one of the king of Israel's servants answered and said, Elisha the son of Shaphat is here, who poured water on the hands of Elijah.

²⁷ And when she came to the man of God to the hill, she caught hold of his feet. And Gehazi came near to thrust her away, but the man of God said, Let her alone, for her soul is vexed within her, and LORD has hid it from me, and has not told me. ²⁸ Then she said, Did I desire a son of my lord? Did I not say, do not deceive me? ²⁹ Then he said to Gehazi, Gird up thy loins, and take my staff in thy hand, and go thy way. If thou meet any man, do not salute him, and if any salute thee, do not answer him again. And lay my staff upon the face of the child.

²⁵ But he went in, and stood before his master. And Elisha said to him, From where did thou come, Gehazi? And he said, Thy servant went nowhere. ²⁶ And he said to him, Did not my heart go with thee when the man turned from his chariot to meet thee? Is it a time to receive money, and to receive garments, and oliveyards and vineyards, and sheep and oxen, and men-servants and maid-servants? ²⁷ The leprosy therefore of Naaman shall cling to thee, and to thy seed forever. And he went out from his presence a leper as white as snow.

²⁶ But it shall not be so among you. Rather whoever wants to become great among you, he shall be your helper, ²⁷ and whoever wants be first among you shall be your bondman.

¹⁰ The man faithful in the least is faithful also in much, and the man unrighteous in the least is unrighteous also in much.

⁴⁵ Which also our fathers, having received in succession, brought in with Joshua into the possession of the nations whom God drove out from the presence of our fathers, until the days of David

³⁶ For indeed David, who served his own generation in the plan of God, became asleep, and was added near his fathers, and saw decay. ³⁷ But he whom God raised up saw no decay.
