³⁰ Therefore her young men shall fall in her streets, and all her men of war shall be brought to silence in that day, says LORD.

¹⁵ Everyone who is found shall be thrust through, and everyone who is taken shall fall by the sword. ¹⁶ Their infants also shall be dashed in pieces before their eyes. Their houses shall be rifled, and their wives ravished. ¹⁷ Behold, I will stir up the Medes against them, who shall not regard silver, and as for gold, they shall not delight in it. ¹⁸ And their bows shall dash the young men in pieces. And they shall have no pity on the fruit of the womb; their eye shall not spare children.

²¹ For death has come up into our windows. It has entered into our palaces, to cut off the sons from outside, the young men from the streets.

²¹ Therefore deliver up their sons to the famine, and give them over to the power of the sword, and let their wives become childless, and widows, and let their men be slain of death, and their young men smitten of the sword in battle.

³⁶ A sword is upon the boasters, and they shall become fools. A sword is upon her mighty men, and they shall be dismayed.

³ Against him who bends let the archer bend his bow, and against him who lifts himself up in his coat of mail. And spare ye not her young men. Destroy ye utterly all her host. ⁴ And they shall fall down slain in the land of the Chaldeans, and thrust through in her streets.

For LORD is a God of recompenses; he will surely requite. ⁵⁷ And I will make drunk her rulers and her wise men, her governors and her deputies, and her mighty men.
