²⁷ He is not God of the dead, but of the living. Ye greatly err.

²⁴ Jesus answering said to them: Do ye not therefore err, because ye know not the Scriptures, nor the power of God?

¹⁷ (as it is written: A father of many nations have I made thee,) before God whom he believed, who quickens the dead, and calls the things that are not as though they were;

⁹ For to this end Christ died, and lived, that he might be Lord of both the dead and living.

¹³ These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them from afar, and greeted them, and professed that they were strangers and sojourners on the earth. ¹⁴ For they that say such things declare plainly, that they are seeking a country. ¹⁵ And if indeed, they had in mind that from which they came out, they would have had opportunity to return. ¹⁶ But now they desire a better, that is, a heavenly; wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God; for he prepared for them a city.
