²³ And this is his commandment, that we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and should love one another, as he gave us commandment.

³⁹ And the second is like to it: Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thy self.

⁷ And there came a cloud overshadowing them; and a voice came out of the cloud: This is my beloved Son; hear ye him.

²⁹ Jesus answered and said to them: This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he sent.

³⁴ A new commandment I give to you, that ye love one another; as I loved you, that ye also love one another.

⁸ Again, a new commandment I write to you, which thing is true in him and in you; because the darkness is passing away, and the true light now shines. ⁹ He that says he is in the light, and hates his brother, is in the darkness until now. ¹⁰ He that loves his brother abides in the light, and there is no occasion of stumbling in him.

¹¹ because this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another
