6 Then he spake this parable. A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard, and he went seeking fruit on it, but found none.
7 Whereupon he said to the vine dresser, Behold this is the third year that I have come, seeking fruit on this fig tree, without finding any. Cut it down. Why doth it cumber the ground?
8 To which he replied, Master, let it alone one year longer, until I dig about it and dung it.
9 Perhaps it may bear fruit: if not; then cut it down.
