Revelation 17:1-6

Rotherham(i) 1 And one of the seven messengers who had the seven bowls came, and spake with me, saying––Hither! I will point out to thee the judgment of the great harlot, who sitteth upon many waters, 2 with whom the kings of the earth committed lewdness,––and they who were dwelling upon the earth were made drunk with the wine of her lewdness. 3 And he carried me away into a desert, in spirit. And I saw a woman, sitting upon a scarlet wild–beast full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns. 4 And, the woman, was arrayed with purple and scarlet, and decked with gold and precious stone and pearls,––having a cup of gold in her hand, full of abominations and the impurities of her lewdness; 5 and, upon her forehead, a name written, a secret: Babylon the great, the Mother of the Harlots and of the Abominations of the earth. 6 And I saw the woman, drunk with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the witnesses of Jesus. And I was astonished, when I beheld her, with great astonishment.
