Hebrews 5 For every high priest chosen from among men is ordained to represent men in things pertaining to God, to offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins.

RKJNT⁽ⁱ⁾ ¹ For every high priest chosen from among men is ordained to represent men in things pertaining to God, to offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins. ² He can have compassion on the ignorant, and on those who are going astray; for he also is subject to weakness. ³ And for this reason he must offer sacrifices for sins, both for the people, and for himself. ⁴ And no man takes this honour upon himself, but he is called by God, as was Aaron. ⁵ So also Christ did not exalt himself to be made a high priest; but was appointed by him who said to him, You are my Son, today I have begotten you. ⁶ As he also says in another place, You are a priest forever in the order of Melchizedek. ⁷ In the days of his flesh, he offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears to him who was able to save him from death, and he was heard because of his piety. ⁸ Though he was a Son, yet he learned obedience through the things which he suffered; ⁹ And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation for all those who obey him; ¹⁰ Being named by God as a high priest in the order of Melchizedek. ¹¹ Of him we have many things to say which are hard to explain, since you have become dull of hearing. ¹² For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you have need for someone to teach you again the first principles of the oracles of God. You have come to need milk, and not solid food. ¹³ For everyone who lives on milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. ¹⁴ But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, those who by practice have their senses trained to discern both good and evil.
