Have mercy on me and hear my prayer. ² O sons of men, how long will my glorious honor be turned into shame? How long will you love empty, worthless things and search for the lie? ³ But know that Jehovah has chosen and distinguished the godly man for himself. Jehovah will hear when I call to him. ⁴ Tremble, stand in awe and do not sin! Meditate in your heart upon your bed, and keep silent. ⁵ Offer the sacrifices of righteousness and trust in Jehovah. ⁶ Many are saying: »Who will show us good?« Lift up the light of your countenance (face) (presence) upon us, O Jehovah! ⁷ You will put gladness (joy) in my heart. It will be more than when their grain and new wine abound. ⁸ In peace I will both lie down and sleep. For you alone, O Jehovah, make my dwelling safe and secure.
