Psalms 4

NSB(i) 1 ([Psalm of David]) Answer me when I call, O God of my righteousness! You have relieved me in my trouble. Have mercy on me and hear my prayer. 2 O sons of men, how long will my glorious honor be turned into shame? How long will you love empty, worthless things and search for the lie? 3 But know that Jehovah has chosen and distinguished the godly man for himself. Jehovah will hear when I call to him. 4 Tremble, stand in awe and do not sin! Meditate in your heart upon your bed, and keep silent. 5 Offer the sacrifices of righteousness and trust in Jehovah. 6 Many are saying: »Who will show us good?« Lift up the light of your countenance (face) (presence) upon us, O Jehovah! 7 You will put gladness (joy) in my heart. It will be more than when their grain and new wine abound. 8 In peace I will both lie down and sleep. For you alone, O Jehovah, make my dwelling safe and secure.
