Jeremiah 33

Matthew(i) 1 Moreouer the worde of the Lord came vnto Ieremye on this maner, when he was yet bound in the courte of the preson. 2 Thus sayeth the Lorde, whiche fulfilleth the thynge that he speaketh, the Lorde whyche perfourmeth the thinge that he taketh in hand: euen he, whose name is the lord: 3 thou hast cryed vnto me, and I haue hearde the: I haue shewed greate and hye thinges, whiche were vnknowen vnto you. 4 Thus (I saye) spake the Lorde God of Israel, concerninge the houses of this citie, and the houses of the kinges of Iuda: that they shalbe broken thorow the ordynaunce & weapens, 5 when the Caldees come to besege them & they shalbe filled wt the dead karcases of men, whom I will slaye in my wrath and displeasure: when I turne my face from this cytye, because of all her wickednes. 6 Beholde (saieth the Lorde) I will heale their woundes, and make them whole: I wyll open them the treasure of peace and trueth. 7 And I will returne the captyuyte of Iuda and Israell, and I will set them vp agayne, as they were afo 8 From all misdedes (wherein they haue offended against me) I will clense them. And al their blasphemes whiche they haue done agaynst me, when they regarded me not, I will forgeue them. 9 And this shall get me a name, a prayse and honoure, amonge all people of the earthe, whiche shall heare al the good, that I will shewe vnto them: yea they shalbe afrayed and astounded at all the good deedes and benefytes, that I will do for them. 10 Moreouer thus sayeth the Lorde: In this place, wherof ye saye that it shalbe a wyldernesse, wherein neyther people nor catell shall dwel: in lyke maner in the cities of Iuda and wythoute Ierusalem (whyche also shalbe voyde, that neyther people nor catell shal dwel there) 11 Shall the voice of gladnesse be hearde agayne, the voyce of the Brydegrome and of the bryde, the voyce of them that shall synge: Prayse the Lorde of Hostes, for he is louinge and his mercy endureth for euer, and the voyce of them that shall offer vp gyftes in the house of the Lorde. For I will restore the captiuite of this lande, as it was afore, saieth the Lord. 12 Thus sayeth the Lorde of Hostes: It shall come yet therto, that in this lande, whiche is voyde from men and catel, and in al the cities of the land, there shalbe set vp sheperdes cotages: 13 in the cytyes vpon the mountaynes, and in the cyties that lay vpon the plaine, and in the deserte. In the lande of Ben Iamin, in the feldes of Ierusalem, and in the cities of Iuda, shall the shepe be nombred agayn, vnder the hand of him, that telleth them, sayeth the Lorde. 14 Beholde, the tyme commeth, sayth the Lorde that I wil perfourme that good thing, which I haue promysed vnto the house of Israell & to the house of Iuda. 15 In those dayes and at the same tyme, I wil bringe forthe vnto Dauid, the braunche of righteousnes, and he shal do equite and ryghteousnesse in the lande. 16 In those dayes shal Iuda be helped, and Ierusalem shall dwel safe, and he that shal cal her, is euen God our ryghteous maker. 17 For thus the Lorde promyseth: Dauid shal neuer want one, to syt vpon the stole of the house of Israell: 18 neyther shal the priestes and Leuites want one to offre alwaye before me burntofferinges, to kyndle the meatofferynges, and to prepare the sacryfyces. 19 And the worde of the Lorde came vnto Ieremy after this maner. 20 Thus sayeth the lord: May the couenaunt whiche I haue made wt daye and night be broken, that there shoulde not be day and night in due season? 21 Then maye my couenaunt also be broken, whyche I made with Dauid my seruaunte, and so he not to haue a sonne to reygne in hys Trone. So shall also the Priestes and Leuites neuer fayle, but serue me. 22 For lyke as the starres of heauen may not be nombred, neither the sand of the sea measured: so will I multyplie the seade of Dauid my seruaunt, and of the Leuites my mynisters. 23 Moreouer the worde of the Lorde came to Ieremy saying: 24 Considrest thou not what this people speaketh? Two kinredes (saye they) had the Lorde chosen, and those same two hath he cast awaie: for so farre is my people come, that they haue no hope to come together any more, and to be one people again. 25 Therfore thus saieth the Lorde: Yf I haue made no couenaunt with day and night, and geuen no statute vnto heauen and earth: 26 then will I also cast awaye the sede of Dauid my seruaunt: so that I will take no prynce oute of his sede, to rule the posterite of Abraham, Isaac and Iacob. But yet I will turne again their captiuite, and be mercyfull vnto them.
