2 Chronicles 31

Matthew(i) 1 And when they had fynesshed al this: then all Israell that were founde in the cyties of Iuda, went oute and brake the Images and cut downe the groues, and all to brake the hylaulteres and the other aulters thorow out all Iuda and Beniamin, Ephraim & Manasseh, vntyll they had made an ende of them. And afterwarde all the chyldren of Israel returned euery man to hys possessyon in theyr owne cyties. 2 And Hezekiah set the preastes and the Leuites in theyr ordre to wayte by course, euery man according to his office whether preaste or Leuite: for the burntoffringes and peace offringes, & to ministre and to thanke and to praye in the gates of the lodge of the Lorde. 3 And the kyng gaue a porcyon of his substaunce for burntofferynges at mornynge, and euen, & for burntoffrynges on the Saboth dayes & new mones & other solempne feastes, accordynge as it is wrytten in the lawe of the Lorde. 4 And he bade the people that dwelt in Ierusalem to geue the parte of the preastes & Leuites, that they myght be maintened in the lawe of the Lorde. 5 And as sone as the worde came abroade the chyldren of Israel brought aboundance of fyrste fruites of corne, wyne, olye and hony, and of all maner of fruites of the feld: and the tythes of all maner of thynges brought they in plenteously. 6 And the chyldren of Israel and Iuda that dwelte in the cyties of Iuda, they also brought in the tythes of oxen & shepe, and tythes of dedycate thynges which were dedicated to the Lorde theyr God, and put them on heapes. 7 In the thirde moneth they beganne to laye the heapes, and fynesshed them the seuenth. 8 And when Hezekiah, and the Lordes came and saw the heapes, they blessed the Lorde and his people Israel. 9 And Hezekiah questioned with the priestes and the Leuites concernynge the heapes. 10 And Azariah the chefe prieste of the house of Zadock aunswered hym and sayde: sense they beganne to bringe the heaue offeringes into the house of the Lorde, we haue eaten and had ynough, and yet lefte aboundaunce, for the Lorde hath blessed his people, and therof is thys heape lefte. 11 And Hezekiah bade dresse vp the store houses aboute the house of the Lorde. And so they dyd, 12 and caryed in the heaue offeringes and the tythes and the dedycate gyftes euen of fydelyte. Ouer which Chonaniah the Leuite had the rule wyth Semei hys brother nexte to hym. 13 And Iehiel, Asariah, Nahath, Asael, Ierimoth, Iosabad, Eliel, Iesmachiah, Mahath and Bananiah were ouer sears ordeyned by Chonaniah and Semei hys brother, at the appoyntement of Hezekiah the kynge, and Asariah the ruler of the house of God. 14 And Chore the sonne of Iemma the Leuite porter of the East dore had the ouersyght of the frewyll offeringes of God, to geue heaueofferynges vnto the Lorde, and was ouer thynges moste holy. 15 And vnder hym were Eden, Miniamin, Iesua, Semeiah, Amariah and Secheniah in the cytyes of the priestes of theyr fydelyte, to geue to their brethren theyr porcyons, as well to the small as to the great. 16 And to the males also that were rekened from thre yeare and aboue amonge all that went into the house of the Lord day by day, to do seruice and to wayte by course. 17 And to the pryestes that were rekened in the housholdes of their fathers from twentye yeare and aboue, to wayte when theyr courses came. 18 And to them that were rekened thorow oute all theyr babes, wiues, sonnes and doughters thorow oute all the congregacyon. For to the fydelytye of them dyd men commit their sanctyfyed gyftes. 19 And thereto amonge the chyldren of Aaron the pryestes were men named by name in the feldes of the suburbes of all their cytyes, cytye by cytye, for to geue porcions to all the males of the priestes, and to all that were rekened amonge the Leuites. 20 And of this maner dyd Hezekiah thorow out all Iuda, and dyd that was good, ryght and trueth, before the Lorde hys God. 21 And in all the worckes that he beganne in the seruyce of the house of God, to seke hys God after the lawe and commaundemente, that dyd he wyth all his herte, and prospered.
