Matthew⁽ⁱ⁾ ³ But he that prophecyeth, speaketh vnto men, to edifiynge, to exhortation and to comforte. ⁴ He that speaketh wyth tounges profyteth hym selfe: he that prophecieth edifyeth the congregation. ⁵ I woulde that ye all spake with tounges: but rather that ye prophecyed. For greater is he that prophecieth, then he that speaketh with tounges, excepte he expounde it also, that the congregacion maye haue edifiyng.
