Judges 2 And an angel of the LORD came up from Gilgal to Bochim , and said , I made you to go up out of Egypt , and have brought you unto the land which I sware unto your fathers ; and I said , I will never break my covenant with you.

2 H3772 And ye shall make [H8799] H1285 no league H3427 with the inhabitants [H8802] H776 of this land H5422 ; ye shall throw down [H8799] H4196 their altars H8085 : but ye have not obeyed [H8804] H6963 my voice H6213 : why have ye done [H8804] this?

3 H559 Wherefore I also said [H8804] H1644 , I will not drive them out [H8762] H6440 from before H6654 you; but they shall be as thorns in your sides H430 , and their gods H4170 shall be a snare unto you.

4 H4397 And it came to pass, when the angel H3068 of the LORD H1696 spake [H8763] H1697 these words H1121 unto all the children H3478 of Israel H5971 , that the people H5375 lifted up [H8799] H6963 their voice H1058 , and wept [H8799] .

5 H7121 And they called [H8799] H8034 the name H4725 of that place H1066 Bochim H2076 : and they sacrificed [H8799] H3068 there unto the LORD.

6 H3091 And when Joshua H5971 had let the people H7971 go [H8762] H1121 , the children H3478 of Israel H3212 went [H8799] H376 every man H5159 unto his inheritance H3423 to possess [H8800] H776 the land.

7 H5971 And the people H5647 served [H8799] H3068 the LORD H3117 all the days H3091 of Joshua H3117 , and all the days H2205 of the elders H748 that outlived [H8689] H3117 H310 H3091 Joshua H7200 , who had seen [H8804] H1419 all the great H4639 works H3068 of the LORD H6213 , that he did [H8804] H3478 for Israel.

8 H3091 And Joshua H1121 the son H5126 of Nun H5650 , the servant H3068 of the LORD H4191 , died [H8799] H3967 , being an hundred H6235 and ten H8141 years H1121 old.

9 H6912 And they buried [H8799] H1366 him in the border H5159 of his inheritance H8556 in Timnathheres H2022 , in the mount H669 of Ephraim H6828 , on the north side H2022 of the hill H1608 Gaash.

10 H1755 And also all that generation H622 were gathered [H8738] H1 unto their fathers H6965 : and there arose [H8799] H312 another H1755 generation H310 after H3045 them, which knew [H8804] H3068 not the LORD H4639 , nor yet the works H6213 which he had done [H8804] H3478 for Israel.

11 H1121 And the children H3478 of Israel H6213 did [H8799] H7451 evil H5869 in the sight H3068 of the LORD H5647 , and served [H8799] H1168 Baalim:

12 H5800 And they forsook [H8799] H3068 the LORD H430 God H1 of their fathers H3318 , which brought them out [H8688] H776 of the land H4714 of Egypt H3212 , and followed [H8799] H310 H312 other H430 gods H430 , of the gods H5971 of the people H5439 that were round about H7812 them, and bowed [H8691] H3068 themselves unto them, and provoked the LORD H3707 to anger [H8686] .

13 H5800 And they forsook [H8799] H3068 the LORD H5647 , and served [H8799] H1168 Baal H6252 and Ashtaroth.

14 H639 And the anger H3068 of the LORD H2734 was hot [H8799] H3478 against Israel H5414 , and he delivered [H8799] H3027 them into the hands H8154 of spoilers [H8802] H8155 that spoiled [H8799] H4376 them, and he sold [H8799] H3027 them into the hands H341 of their enemies [H8802] H5439 round about H3201 , so that they could [H8804] H5750 not any longer H5975 stand [H8800] H6440 before H341 their enemies [H8802] .

15 H3318 Whithersoever they went out [H8804] H3027 , the hand H3068 of the LORD H7451 was against them for evil H3068 , as the LORD H1696 had said [H8765] H3068 , and as the LORD H7650 had sworn [H8738] H3966 unto them: and they were greatly H3334 distressed [H8799] .

16 H3068 Nevertheless the LORD H6965 raised up [H8686] H8199 judges [H8802] H3467 , which delivered [H8686] H3027 them out of the hand H8154 of those that spoiled [H8802] them.

17 H8085 And yet they would not hearken [H8804] H8199 unto their judges [H8802] H2181 , but they went a whoring [H8804] H310 after H312 other H430 gods H7812 , and bowed [H8691] H5493 themselves unto them: they turned [H8804] H4118 quickly H1870 out of the way H1 which their fathers H1980 walked in [H8804] H8085 , obeying [H8800] H4687 the commandments H3068 of the LORD H6213 ; but they did [H8804] not so.

18 H3068 And when the LORD H6965 raised [H8689] H8199 them up judges [H8802] H3068 , then the LORD H8199 was with the judge [H8802] H3467 , and delivered [H8689] H3027 them out of the hand H341 of their enemies [H8802] H3117 all the days H8199 of the judge [H8802] H5162 : for it repented [H8735] H3068 the LORD H6440 because H5009 of their groanings H3905 by reason of them that oppressed [H8801] H1766 them and vexed [H8802] them.

19 H8199 And it came to pass, when the judge [H8802] H4194 was dead H7725 , that they returned [H8799] H7843 , and corrupted [H8689] H1 themselves more than their fathers H3212 , in following [H8800] H310 H312 other H430 gods H5647 to serve [H8800] H7812 them, and to bow down [H8692] H5307 unto them; they ceased [H8689] H4611 not from their own doings H7186 , nor from their stubborn H1870 way.

20 H639 And the anger H3068 of the LORD H2734 was hot [H8799] H3478 against Israel H559 ; and he said [H8799] H1471 , Because that this people H5674 hath transgressed [H8804] H1285 my covenant H6680 which I commanded [H8765] H1 their fathers H8085 , and have not hearkened [H8804] H6963 unto my voice;

21 H3254 I also will not henceforth [H8686] H3423 drive out [H8687] H376 any H6440 from before H1471 them of the nations H3091 which Joshua H5800 left [H8804] H4191 when he died [H8799] :

22 H5254 That through them I may prove [H8763] H3478 Israel H8104 , whether they will keep [H8802] H1870 the way H3068 of the LORD H3212 to walk [H8800] H1 therein, as their fathers H8104 did keep [H8804] it, or not.

23 H3068 Therefore the LORD H3240 left [H8686] H1471 those nations H1115 , without H3423 driving them out [H8687] H4118 hastily H5414 ; neither delivered [H8804] H3027 he them into the hand H3091 of Joshua.
