Joshua 10 Now it came to pass, when Adonizedek king of Jerusalem had heard how Joshua had taken Ai , and had utterly destroyed it; as he had done to Jericho and her king , so he had done to Ai and her king ; and how the inhabitants of Gibeon had made peace with Israel , and were among them;

2 H3372 That they feared [H8799] H3966 greatly H1391 , because Gibeon H1419 was a great H5892 city H259 , as one H4467 of the royal H5892 cities H1419 , and because it was greater H5857 than Ai H582 , and all the men H1368 thereof were mighty.

3 H139 Wherefore Adonizedek H4428 king H3389 of Jerusalem H7971 sent [H8799] H1944 unto Hoham H4428 king H2275 of Hebron H6502 , and unto Piram H4428 king H3412 of Jarmuth H3309 , and unto Japhia H4428 king H3923 of Lachish H1688 , and unto Debir H4428 king H5700 of Eglon H559 , saying [H8800] ,

4 H5927 Come up [H8798] H5826 unto me, and help [H8798] H5221 me, that we may smite [H8686] H1391 Gibeon H7999 : for it hath made peace [H8689] H3091 with Joshua H1121 and with the children H3478 of Israel.

5 H2568 Therefore the five H4428 kings H567 of the Amorites H4428 , the king H3389 of Jerusalem H4428 , the king H2275 of Hebron H4428 , the king H3412 of Jarmuth H4428 , the king H3923 of Lachish H4428 , the king H5700 of Eglon H622 , gathered themselves together [H8735] H5927 , and went up [H8799] H4264 , they and all their hosts H2583 , and encamped [H8799] H1391 before Gibeon H3898 , and made war [H8735] against it.

6 H582 And the men H1391 of Gibeon H7971 sent [H8799] H3091 unto Joshua H4264 to the camp H1537 to Gilgal H559 , saying [H8800] H7503 , Slack [H8686] H3027 not thy hand H5650 from thy servants H5927 ; come up [H8798] H4120 to us quickly H3467 , and save [H8685] H5826 us, and help [H8798] H4428 us: for all the kings H567 of the Amorites H3427 that dwell [H8802] H2022 in the mountains H6908 are gathered together [H8738] against us.

7 H3091 So Joshua H5927 ascended [H8799] H1537 from Gilgal H5971 , he, and all the people H4421 of war H1368 with him, and all the mighty H2428 men of valour.

8 H3068 And the LORD H559 said [H8799] H3091 unto Joshua H3372 , Fear [H8799] H5414 them not: for I have delivered [H8804] H3027 them into thine hand H376 ; there shall not a man H5975 of them stand [H8799] H6440 before thee.

9 H3091 Joshua H935 therefore came [H8799] H6597 unto them suddenly H5927 , and went up [H8804] H1537 from Gilgal H3915 all night.

10 H3068 And the LORD H2000 discomfited [H8799] H6440 them before H3478 Israel H5221 , and slew [H8686] H1419 them with a great H4347 slaughter H1391 at Gibeon H7291 , and chased [H8799] H1870 them along the way H4608 that goeth up H1032 to Bethhoron H5221 , and smote [H8686] H5825 them to Azekah H4719 , and unto Makkedah.

11 H5127 And it came to pass, as they fled [H8800] H6440 from before H3478 Israel H4174 , and were in the going down H1032 to Bethhoron H3068 , that the LORD H7993 cast down [H8689] H1419 great H68 stones H8064 from heaven H5825 upon them unto Azekah H4191 , and they died [H8799] H7227 : they were more H4191 which died [H8804] H1259 with hailstones H68 H834 than they whom H1121 the children H3478 of Israel H2026 slew [H8804] H2719 with the sword.

12 H1696 Then spake [H8762] H3091 Joshua H3068 to the LORD H3117 in the day H3068 when the LORD H5414 delivered up [H8800] H567 the Amorites H6440 before H1121 the children H3478 of Israel H559 , and he said [H8799] H5869 in the sight H3478 of Israel H8121 , Sun H1826 , stand thou still [H8798] H1391 upon Gibeon H3394 ; and thou, Moon H6010 , in the valley H357 of Ajalon.

13 H8121 And the sun H1826 stood still [H8799] H3394 , and the moon H5975 stayed [H8804] H1471 , until the people H5358 had avenged [H8799] H341 themselves upon their enemies [H8802] H1931 . Is not this H3789 written [H8803] H5612 in the book H3477 of Jasher H8121 ? So the sun H5975 stood still [H8799] H2677 in the midst H8064 of heaven H213 , and hasted [H8804] H935 not to go down [H8800] H8549 about a whole H3117 day.

14 H3117 And there was no day H6440 like that before H310 it or after H3068 it, that the LORD H8085 hearkened [H8800] H6963 unto the voice H376 of a man H3068 : for the LORD H3898 fought [H8737] H3478 for Israel.

15 H3091 And Joshua H7725 returned [H8799] H3478 , and all Israel H4264 with him, unto the camp H1537 to Gilgal.

16 H2568 But these five H4428 kings H5127 fled [H8799] H2244 , and hid [H8735] H4631 themselves in a cave H4719 at Makkedah.

17 H5046 And it was told [H8714] H3091 Joshua H559 , saying [H8800] H2568 , The five H4428 kings H4672 are found [H8738] H2244 hid [H8737] H4631 in a cave H4719 at Makkedah.

18 H3091 And Joshua H559 said [H8799] H1556 , Roll [H8798] H1419 great H68 stones H6310 upon the mouth H4631 of the cave H6485 , and set [H8685] H582 men H8104 by it for to keep [H8800] them:

19 H5975 And stay [H8799] H7291 ye not, but pursue [H8798] H310 after H341 your enemies [H8802] H2179 , and smite the hindmost [H8765] H5414 of them; suffer [H8799] H935 them not to enter [H8800] H5892 into their cities H3068 : for the LORD H430 your God H5414 hath delivered [H8804] H3027 them into your hand.

20 H3091 And it came to pass, when Joshua H1121 and the children H3478 of Israel H3615 had made an end [H8763] H5221 of slaying [H8687] H3966 them with a very H1419 great H4347 slaughter H8552 , till they were consumed [H8800] H8300 , that the rest H8277 which remained [H8804] H935 of them entered [H8799] H4013 into fenced H5892 cities.

21 H5971 And all the people H7725 returned [H8799] H4264 to the camp H3091 to Joshua H4719 at Makkedah H7965 in peace H2782 : none moved [H8804] H3956 his tongue H376 against any H1121 of the children H3478 of Israel.

22 H559 Then said [H8799] H3091 Joshua H6605 , Open [H8798] H6310 the mouth H4631 of the cave H3318 , and bring out [H8685] H2568 those five H4428 kings H4631 unto me out of the cave.

23 H6213 And they did [H8799] H3318 so, and brought forth [H8686] H2568 those five H4428 kings H4631 unto him out of the cave H4428 , the king H3389 of Jerusalem H4428 , the king H2275 of Hebron H4428 , the king H3412 of Jarmuth H4428 , the king H3923 of Lachish H4428 , and the king H5700 of Eglon.

24 H3318 And it came to pass, when they brought out [H8687] H4428 those kings H3091 unto Joshua H3091 , that Joshua H7121 called [H8799] H376 for all the men H3478 of Israel H559 , and said [H8799] H7101 unto the captains H582 of the men H4421 of war H1980 which went [H8804] H7126 with him, Come near [H8798] H7760 , put [H8798] H7272 your feet H6677 upon the necks H4428 of these kings H7126 . And they came near [H8799] H7760 , and put [H8799] H7272 their feet H6677 upon the necks of them.

25 H3091 And Joshua H559 said [H8799] H3372 unto them, Fear [H8799] H2865 not, nor be dismayed [H8735] H2388 , be strong [H8798] H553 and of good courage [H8798] H3068 : for thus shall the LORD H6213 do [H8799] H341 to all your enemies [H8802] H3898 against whom ye fight [H8737] .

26 H310 And afterward H3091 Joshua H5221 smote [H8686] H4191 them, and slew [H8686] H8518 them, and hanged [H8799] H2568 them on five H6086 trees H8518 : and they were hanging [H8803] H6086 upon the trees H6153 until the evening.

27 H6256 And it came to pass at the time H935 of the going down [H8800] H8121 of the sun H3091 , that Joshua H6680 commanded [H8765] H3381 , and they took them down [H8686] H6086 off the trees H7993 , and cast [H8686] H4631 them into the cave H2244 wherein they had been hid [H8738] H7760 , and laid [H8799] H1419 great H68 stones H4631 in the cave's H6310 mouth H6106 , which remain until this very H3117 day.

28 H3117 And that day H3091 Joshua H3920 took [H8804] H4719 Makkedah H5221 , and smote [H8686] H6310 it with the edge H2719 of the sword H4428 , and the king H2763 thereof he utterly destroyed [H8689] H5315 , them, and all the souls H7604 that were therein; he let [H8689] H8300 none remain H6213 : and he did [H8799] H4428 to the king H4719 of Makkedah H6213 as he did [H8804] H4428 unto the king H3405 of Jericho.

29 H3091 Then Joshua H5674 passed [H8799] H4719 from Makkedah H3478 , and all Israel H3841 with him, unto Libnah H3898 , and fought [H8735] H3841 against Libnah:

30 H3068 And the LORD H5414 delivered [H8799] H4428 it also, and the king H3027 thereof, into the hand H3478 of Israel H5221 ; and he smote [H8686] H6310 it with the edge H2719 of the sword H5315 , and all the souls H7604 that were therein; he let [H8689] H8300 none remain H6213 in it; but did [H8799] H4428 unto the king H6213 thereof as he did [H8804] H4428 unto the king H3405 of Jericho.

31 H3091 And Joshua H5674 passed [H8799] H3841 from Libnah H3478 , and all Israel H3923 with him, unto Lachish H2583 , and encamped [H8799] H3898 against it, and fought [H8735] against it:

32 H3068 And the LORD H5414 delivered [H8799] H3923 Lachish H3027 into the hand H3478 of Israel H3920 , which took [H8799] H8145 it on the second H3117 day H5221 , and smote [H8686] H6310 it with the edge H2719 of the sword H5315 , and all the souls H6213 that were therein, according to all that he had done [H8804] H3841 to Libnah.

33 H2036 Then Horam H4428 king H1507 of Gezer H5927 came up [H8804] H5826 to help [H8800] H3923 Lachish H3091 ; and Joshua H5221 smote [H8686] H5971 him and his people H7604 , until he had left [H8689] H8300 him none remaining.

34 H3923 And from Lachish H3091 Joshua H5674 passed [H8799] H5700 unto Eglon H3478 , and all Israel H2583 with him; and they encamped [H8799] H3898 against it, and fought [H8735] against it:

35 H3920 And they took [H8799] H3117 it on that day H5221 , and smote [H8686] H6310 it with the edge H2719 of the sword H5315 , and all the souls H2763 that were therein he utterly destroyed [H8689] H3117 that day H6213 , according to all that he had done [H8804] H3923 to Lachish.

36 H3091 And Joshua H5927 went up [H8799] H5700 from Eglon H3478 , and all Israel H2275 with him, unto Hebron H3898 ; and they fought [H8735] against it:

37 H3920 And they took [H8799] H5221 it, and smote [H8686] H6310 it with the edge H2719 of the sword H4428 , and the king H5892 thereof, and all the cities H5315 thereof, and all the souls H7604 that were therein; he left [H8689] H8300 none remaining H6213 , according to all that he had done [H8804] H5700 to Eglon H2763 ; but destroyed [H8686] H5315 it utterly, and all the souls that were therein.

38 H3091 And Joshua H7725 returned [H8799] H3478 , and all Israel H1688 with him, to Debir H3898 ; and fought [H8735] against it:

39 H3920 And he took [H8799] H4428 it, and the king H5892 thereof, and all the cities H5221 thereof; and they smote [H8686] H6310 them with the edge H2719 of the sword H2763 , and utterly destroyed [H8686] H5315 all the souls H7604 that were therein; he left [H8689] H8300 none remaining H6213 : as he had done [H8804] H2275 to Hebron H6213 , so he did [H8804] H1688 to Debir H4428 , and to the king H6213 thereof; as he had done [H8804] H3841 also to Libnah H4428 , and to her king.

40 H3091 So Joshua H5221 smote [H8686] H776 all the country H2022 of the hills H5045 , and of the south H8219 , and of the vale H794 , and of the springs H4428 , and all their kings H7604 : he left [H8689] H8300 none remaining H2763 , but utterly destroyed [H8689] H5397 all that breathed H3068 , as the LORD H430 God H3478 of Israel H6680 commanded [H8765] .

41 H3091 And Joshua H5221 smote [H8686] H6947 them from Kadeshbarnea H5804 even unto Gaza H776 , and all the country H1657 of Goshen H1391 , even unto Gibeon.

42 H4428 And all these kings H776 and their land H3091 did Joshua H3920 take [H8804] H259 at one H6471 time H3068 , because the LORD H430 God H3478 of Israel H3898 fought [H8737] H3478 for Israel.

43 H3091 And Joshua H7725 returned [H8799] H3478 , and all Israel H4264 with him, unto the camp H1537 to Gilgal.
