Job 2

  1 H3117 Again there was a day H1121 when the sons H430 of God H935 came [H8799]   H3320 to present [H8692]   H3068 themselves before the LORD H7854 , and Satan H935 came [H8799]   H8432 also among H3320 them to present [H8692]   H3068 himself before the LORD.

  2 H3068 And the LORD H559 said [H8799]   H7854 unto Satan H335 , From whence H935 comest [H8799]   H7854 thou? And Satan H6030 answered [H8799]   H3068 the LORD H559 , and said [H8799]   H7751 , From going to and fro [H8800]   H776 in the earth H1980 , and from walking up and down [H8692]   in it.

  3 H3068 And the LORD H559 said [H8799]   H7854 unto Satan H7760 , Hast thou [H8804]   H3820 considered H5650 my servant H347 Job H776 , that there is none like him in the earth H8535 , a perfect H3477 and an upright H376 man H3373 , one that feareth H430 God H5493 , and escheweth [H8802]   H7451 evil H2388 ? and still he holdeth fast [H8688]   H8538 his integrity H5496 , although thou movedst [H8686]   H1104 me against him, to destroy [H8763]   H2600 him without cause.

  4 H7854 And Satan H6030 answered [H8799]   H3068 the LORD H559 , and said [H8799]   H5785 , Skin H5785 for skin H376 , yea, all that a man H5414 hath will he give [H8799]   H5315 for his life.

  5 H199 But H7971 put forth [H8798]   H3027 thine hand H5060 now, and touch [H8798]   H6106 his bone H1320 and his flesh H1288 , and he will curse [H8762]   H6440 thee to thy face.

  6 H3068 And the LORD H559 said [H8799]   H7854 unto Satan H3027 , Behold, he is in thine hand H8104 ; but save [H8798]   H5315 his life.

  7 H3318 So went H7854 Satan H3318 forth [H8799]   H6440 from the presence H3068 of the LORD H5221 , and smote [H8686]   H347 Job H7451 with sore H7822 boils H3709 from the sole H7272 of his foot H6936 unto his crown.

  8 H3947 And he took [H8799]   H2789 him a potsherd H1623 to scrape [H8692]   H3427 himself withal; and he sat down [H8802]   H8432 among H665 the ashes.

  9 H559 Then said [H8799]   H802 his wife H2388 unto him, Dost thou still retain [H8688]   H8538 thine integrity H1288 ? curse [H8761]   H430 God H4191 , and die [H8798]  .

  10 H559 But he said [H8799]   H1696 unto her, Thou speakest [H8762]   H259 as one H5036 of the foolish women H1696 speaketh [H8763]   H1571 . What H6901 ? shall we receive [H8762]   H2896 good H430 at the hand of God H6901 , and shall we not receive [H8762]   H7451 evil H347 ? In all this did not Job H2398 sin [H8804]   H8193 with his lips.

  11 H347 Now when Job's H7969 three H7453 friends H8085 heard [H8799]   H7451 of all this evil H935 that was come [H8802]   H935 upon him, they came [H8799]   H376 every one H4725 from his own place H464 ; Eliphaz H8489 the Temanite H1085 , and Bildad H7747 the Shuhite H6691 , and Zophar H5284 the Naamathite H3259 : for they had made an appointment [H8735]   H3162 together H935 to come [H8800]   H5110 to mourn [H8800]   H5162 with him and to comfort [H8763]   him.

  12 H5375 And when they lifted up [H8799]   H5869 their eyes H7350 afar off H5234 , and knew [H8689]   H5375 him not, they lifted up [H8799]   H6963 their voice H1058 , and wept [H8799]   H7167 ; and they rent [H8799]   H376 every one H4598 his mantle H2236 , and sprinkled [H8799]   H6083 dust H7218 upon their heads H8064 toward heaven.

  13 H3427 So they sat down [H8799]   H776 with him upon the ground H7651 seven H3117 days H7651 and seven H3915 nights H1696 , and none spake [H8802]   H1697 a word H7200 unto him: for they saw [H8804]   H3511 that his grief H3966 was very H1431 great [H8804]  .
