2 Chronicles 23 And in the seventh year Jehoiada strengthened himself, and took the captains of hundreds , Azariah the son of Jeroham , and Ishmael the son of Jehohanan , and Azariah the son of Obed , and Maaseiah the son of Adaiah , and Elishaphat the son of Zichri , into covenant with him.

2 H5437 And they went about [H8799] H3063 in Judah H6908 , and gathered [H8799] H3881 the Levites H5892 out of all the cities H3063 of Judah H7218 , and the chief H1 of the fathers H3478 of Israel H935 , and they came [H8799] H3389 to Jerusalem.

3 H6951 And all the congregation H3772 made [H8799] H1285 a covenant H4428 with the king H1004 in the house H430 of God H559 . And he said [H8799] H4428 unto them, Behold, the king's H1121 son H4427 shall reign [H8799] H3068 , as the LORD H1696 hath said [H8765] H1121 of the sons H1732 of David.

4 H1697 This is the thing H6213 that ye shall do [H8799] H7992 ; A third part H935 of you entering [H8802] H7676 on the sabbath H3548 , of the priests H3881 and of the Levites H7778 , shall be porters H5592 of the doors;

5 H7992 And a third part H4428 shall be at the king's H1004 house H7992 ; and a third part H8179 at the gate H3247 of the foundation H5971 : and all the people H2691 shall be in the courts H1004 of the house H3068 of the LORD.

6 H935 But let none come [H8799] H1004 into the house H3068 of the LORD H3548 , save the priests H8334 , and they that minister [H8764] H3881 of the Levites H935 ; they shall go in [H8799] H6944 , for they are holy H5971 : but all the people H8104 shall keep [H8799] H4931 the watch H3068 of the LORD.

7 H3881 And the Levites H5362 shall compass [H8689] H4428 the king H5439 round about H376 , every man H3627 with his weapons H3027 in his hand H935 ; and whosoever else cometh [H8802] H1004 into the house H4191 , he shall be put to death [H8714] H4428 : but be ye with the king H935 when he cometh in [H8800] H3318 , and when he goeth out [H8800] .

8 H3881 So the Levites H3063 and all Judah H6213 did [H8799] H3077 according to all things that Jehoiada H3548 the priest H6680 had commanded [H8765] H3947 , and took [H8799] H376 every man H582 his men H935 that were to come in [H8802] H7676 on the sabbath H3318 , with them that were to go [H8802] H7676 out on the sabbath H3077 : for Jehoiada H3548 the priest H6358 dismissed [H8804] H4256 not the courses.

9 H3077 Moreover Jehoiada H3548 the priest H5414 delivered [H8799] H8269 to the captains H3967 of hundreds H2595 spears H4043 , and bucklers H7982 , and shields H4428 , that had been king H1732 David's H1004 , which were in the house H430 of God.

10 H5975 And he set [H8686] H5971 all the people H376 , every man H7973 having his weapon H3027 in his hand H3233 , from the right H3802 side H1004 of the temple H8042 to the left H3802 side H1004 of the temple H4196 , along by the altar H1004 and the temple H4428 , by the king H5439 round about.

11 H3318 Then they brought out [H8686] H4428 the king's H1121 son H5414 , and put [H8799] H5145 upon him the crown H5715 , and gave him the testimony H4427 , and made him king [H8686] H3077 . And Jehoiada H1121 and his sons H4886 anointed [H8799] H559 him, and said [H8799] H2421 , God save [H8799] H4428 the king.

12 H6271 Now when Athaliah H8085 heard [H8799] H6963 the noise H5971 of the people H7323 running [H8801] H1984 and praising [H8764] H4428 the king H935 , she came [H8799] H5971 to the people H1004 into the house H3068 of the LORD:

13 H7200 And she looked [H8799] H4428 , and, behold, the king H5975 stood [H8802] H5982 at his pillar H3996 at the entering in H8269 , and the princes H2689 and the trumpets H4428 by the king H5971 : and all the people H776 of the land H8056 rejoiced H8628 , and sounded [H8802] H2689 with trumpets H7891 , also the singers [H8789] H3627 with instruments H7892 of musick H3045 , and such as taught [H8688] H1984 to sing praise [H8763] H6271 . Then Athaliah H7167 rent [H8799] H899 her clothes H559 , and said [H8799] H7195 , Treason H7195 , Treason.

14 H3077 Then Jehoiada H3548 the priest H3318 brought out [H8686] H8269 the captains H3967 of hundreds H6485 that were set over [H8803] H2428 the host H559 , and said [H8799] H3318 unto them, Have her forth [H8685] H1004 of the ranges H7713 H935 : and whoso followeth [H8802] H310 H4191 her, let him be slain [H8714] H2719 with the sword H3548 . For the priest H559 said [H8804] H4191 , Slay [H8686] H1004 her not in the house H3068 of the LORD.

15 H7760 So they laid [H8799] H3027 hands H935 on her; and when she was come [H8799] H3996 to the entering H5483 of the horse H8179 gate H4428 by the king's H1004 house H4191 , they slew [H8686] her there.

16 H3077 And Jehoiada H3772 made [H8799] H1285 a covenant H5971 between him, and between all the people H4428 , and between the king H3068 , that they should be the LORD'S H5971 people.

17 H5971 Then all the people H935 went [H8799] H1004 to the house H1168 of Baal H5422 , and brake it down [H8799] H7665 , and brake H4196 his altars H6754 and his images H7665 in pieces [H8765] H2026 , and slew [H8804] H4977 Mattan H3548 the priest H1168 of Baal H6440 before H4196 the altars.

18 H3077 Also Jehoiada H7760 appointed [H8799] H6486 the offices H1004 of the house H3068 of the LORD H3027 by the hand H3548 of the priests H3881 the Levites H1732 , whom David H2505 had distributed [H8804] H1004 in the house H3068 of the LORD H5927 , to offer [H8687] H5930 the burnt offerings H3068 of the LORD H3789 , as it is written [H8803] H8451 in the law H4872 of Moses H8057 , with rejoicing H7892 and with singing H3027 , as it was ordained by H1732 David.

19 H5975 And he set [H8686] H7778 the porters H8179 at the gates H1004 of the house H3068 of the LORD H2931 , that none which was unclean H1697 in any thing H935 should enter in [H8799] .

20 H3947 And he took [H8799] H8269 the captains H3967 of hundreds H117 , and the nobles H4910 , and the governors [H8802] H5971 of the people H5971 , and all the people H776 of the land H3381 , and brought down [H8686] H4428 the king H1004 from the house H3068 of the LORD H935 : and they came [H8799] H8432 through H5945 the high H8179 gate H4428 into the king's H1004 house H3427 , and set [H8686] H4428 the king H3678 upon the throne H4467 of the kingdom.

21 H5971 And all the people H776 of the land H8055 rejoiced [H8799] H5892 : and the city H8252 was quiet [H8804] H4191 , after that they had slain [H8689] H6271 Athaliah H2719 with the sword.
